hey writers!

the void is a positive and creative space to meet fellow writers, brainstorm, share your work, and just learn more about the writing craft together!

writing is super hard and i’ve had plenty of times where i felt like my brain was an uninspired, empty void lol and i’m sure others can relate. so, this server is meant to function as a space where you can just let everything go and fill it up with all the writing you’ve been afraid to do while surrounded by supportive fellow writers and friends.

here is a basic outline of the categories and channels you can find on the server:

welcome: here you’ll find the rules of the server, an in-depth channel directory, general member introductions, and creator profiles for you to share your commission information, patreon, ko-fis, portfolios, etc.

chats: this is for non-writing related channels where you can just chat, make friends, share memes, and have fun.

the process: in this category, you’ll find channels where you can brainstorm, get writing advice, find challenges or writing prompts, and share writing resources. these are organized in separate channels for sfw, mature, and nsfw content.

wips: this is where you can share your wips and get feedback! these are also organized in separate channels for sfw, mature, and nsfw content.

finished work: this is self-plug central! if you’ve finished a poem, short story, fic, screenplay, comic, etc. you can share it here for everyone else to read and gush about!

recs: pretty self-explanatory, this is where you can share reading/watching/listening recommendations!

voice channels: there are 2 voice channels - the just chilling channel and the writing together channel. in just chilling, you can talk about everything that’s not related to writing! in writing together, you can enjoy other users’ company as everyone types away at their wips.

however, there are a couple things you should know before joining:

no bigotry will be tolerated in this server so take your racism/misogyny/homophobia/transphobia etc. out of here.

this is an 18+ server due to the fact that mature subject matter (violence, trauma, sexual assault, etc.) and explicit writing or resources will be shared/discussed for creative purposes and research. while any explicit or potentially triggering content will be kept in the appropriate channels, there have been multiple instances in other discord servers i’ve been a part of where minors go into mature channels despite warnings and i do not want to deal with that. there are plenty of other writing servers that accept all ages but this is not one of them. i’m sorry.

if i, or any other user, has reason to suspect that you are not 18+, you’ll be privately asked for age verification. if you can’t provide it, i will have to ask you to leave. i know this seems very strict but with all the conflict i’ve experienced in other servers, it’s of utmost importance to me to keep this server 18+ to ensure no minors are exposed to explicit content for their own safety.

Literally all the sources involving the “holodomor” were drummed up mostly by Ukrainian and other European fascists to both A) detract away from the actual genocide going on in Europe, and B) blame the Soviets for the Kulaks purposefully hoarding foods, burning fields, and murdering cattle because they didn’t want their wealth to be collectivized, which, added on with poor weather conditions, resulted in food shortages and agricultural disaster. The Soviets tried mitigating it by literally sending Ukraine tons of food but the ultimate problem were the Kulaks, so they were liquidated as a class. Literally any and all sources that report on the “holodomor” were fascists and fascist aligned people in both Europe and America, mostly this 1 fascist aligned american journalist who kept getting fired and re-releasing the same reporting under an alias bc everyone kept rejecting him, named Walter Duranty iirc. Do some research on it please I’m begging you.

I think gatekeepers are fucking controlling pieces of shit. If you want to fuck a vampire, and purely a vampire, go right ahead and I will give you a complementary t-shirt that says “I’m a monster fucker! Ask me about my fuckening.” 

What you are attracted too or want to fuck, is entirely up to you. You are part of this community because we all have an adoration for creatures and monsters. Not because we’re just thirsty bitches for every monster that walks across our path. It’s the same thing with the LGBT+ community. Your part of the community if you like girls and purely girls. And if you are ace, and purely ace, you’re still fucking part of our giant family. 

I am not here for gatekeeping. You like a monster, you’re part of the club. It’s as simple as that.

“This is belonging”

We’re introduced to a group of earnest young men. they’re white, they’re black. they drink tea. they play practical jokes. they quote popular TV shows. they talk about sports. they face their fears. it’s loving and domestic and all too easy to overlook the guns and camo and helicopters blaring overhead.

make no mistake, these adverts are aimed at the young and disenfranchised. poor people, people of colour, people who have been bullied and abused by society and made to feel like they don’t belong anywhere. Join the army, they’re told, and you can have the love and acceptance you crave but have always been denied. Elsewhere, you might get called racial slurs. you might get called a pansy or a fairy, but not here. You belong with us.

For example: Islamophobia is rampant in the UK. here we have an advert of a Muslim soldier praying while his squadron, armed to the teeth, sits in silence. the message is clear - while the rest of society may despise you, here, you will be respected. this is belonging.

here’s one called ‘expressing my emotions’, featuring a white man in his 40s - practically the posterchild for the UK’s current mental health crisis. you don’t have to worry about bottling up your feelings in the army. after all, this is belonging.

here’s another one called ‘can I be gay in the army?’. we’re told: “I was really worried about whether I’d be accepted, but within days, I was more than confident in being who I was.” Clearly homophobia is a thing of the past in the army. don’t worry. this is belonging.

and it works. while the response to these adverts from an unfortunately vocal number of people is basically “fuck you, we’re racist and proud of it!” there are young people being taken in by this. I have met gay children, trans children who are determined to join the army because, after being rejected by their parents and peers, they’re now being told “here you will be accepted. here you will be loved.”

fuck that. don’t be groomed; don’t let the vulnerable and desperate people in your life be groomed. we need to fight the root causes of these problems in our society and stamp them out so that wielding a gun and cowering in some blown-out building in a country you helped destroy is no longer seen as some sort of salvation. fight racism. fight homophobia and transphobia. fight the stigmatisation of mental illness. fight the system that prioritises the rich and leaves the rest of us to rot.
