Many people are making fun of writing choices that teen users do. And we’re laughing with grown up versions of them. However, I think it should be concerning how this specific plot became so relevant among young users.

I remember myself during those years. And I think we starting to forget, that many teens (who have alternative interests) are being shamed and bullied just for liking extremely popular, or unpopular stuff. One being seen as a flock, others as weirdos.

We also forget how many children faced abuse from their parents and relatives at home. And I think, it’s pretty sad that some of those frustrations manifested in idea of being “sold” to someone who would bring comfort. An act of full neglect, a transaction for material values over your own blood/other life. I think in some cases (if we are trying to do a little unserious analysis) we can call it “Deal with a devil”, because 1D are not who they really are in those stories. They just a manifestation of tempting need for calmness and peace. But who actually sold main character. Mother? Step mother? Or an other themselves? Was it an idea of mental separation, because children grew up thinking they are nothing more but a burden.

It was a theory part, let’s get back to something serious. In those stories main characters usually traded one abusive household for another. Because love interest in their stories were cold and distant too. I think it’s pretty sad that many teens in their stories yearn for this pain of being neglected, just to soothe themself with a solution - one day everything changes. One day something bad happens, and all of a sudden - people care for them. Is that how we see our world? We feel like people will only treat us as a person if we got into dangerous situation? Is that how little love we get? And all of this are results of insecurities and toxic environments.

Not all of authors wrote for a sole reason to cope. Some wanted drama, edge. But some tried to express their feelings through stories with their favourite characters/celebrities.

When I first saw early works of a machine, I thought “Impossible! How could we get this close to depicting what we can see in our dreams!”

Now, we just fill our media space with useless copies of copies, crating false narrative and as result - will create an absolutely separate context sphere. There will be no “post-truth”, only “digital-myth”. A narrative only existing in non existing space, but with power over reality.

We will become digital cave men, seeking enemies left and right because algorithm taught us to. And it’s not a fault of an АI, but a fault of humanity, that miserably failed over complex algorithms. Because you believe that your trained algorithm-based digital assistant is something more than just a pile of “true-false” answers and solutions. Because you believe that video hosting platform would never politically bombarded you when government needs it. Because you still believe that “shock therapy” that happens once a year on every platform is just an “accident”.

I miss “secret horses” every day. I miss when programs didn’t understood how clouds worked. It was like looking inside my own dreams, slowly revealing how our imagination works, how we really see things with our brain and not the eyes.

I wish, secret horses will visit us one day. When nightmares will end. And there again will be nothing. Just a confusing algorithm, and a machine, trying to understand what animals look like.

(Also I don’t think he’s even human at this point he doesn’t act like one AT ALL)
