Saw a creator on tiktok (luckyleftie) point out how Pril is kinda similar to the world prrwll, meaning moss, and moss is where the water (Ronal) and the forest (Neytiri) meet. And considering (one of) the correct spelling of Pril, Prril, is even more similar to prrwll, this is proof sheâs Roneytiriâs child
Saw someone talking about how even though TAP failed, Alma still "got what she wanted", and I can see where they're coming from, but I disagree. Alma's intention, as part of TAP, (at least initially) was basically to "teach the savages how to live properly" and then have them go out and "teach" the other "savages" those ways "for their own good". But that's not what the Sarentu survivors (especially our player character) are doing. While they *are* going around and solving conflicts and uniting the clans, they are doing it *their* way, not TAP's way, not even *Alma's* way. They're going around picking up the pieces of what's left of their culture and filling in the gaps/creating their own identity. Human tech (like SID and guns) aids them against the RDA but that is all. They're not going around "enlightening" the Na'vi with stupid Earth economics, they're not out there teaching the kids to idk calculate a fucking parabola or something as if that's something they'd ever need in life (as if anyone on Earth has ever needed it lol), nor are they coming in with an MP or shotgun drawn to threaten the clans into cooperation. Like, no. TAP *failed* and Alma did *not* "get what she wanted" in the end.

One of the many reasons why I hate the idea of any of Danyâs dragons dying is that they are not only her children, they are the physical manifestation and embodiment of her soul. Her three heads of the dragon, her three sides. Dany is not herself without all three of them

Another idea for Avatar Tumblr
Lets be real. The suggestion that Na'vi act sexually when they mate for the first time smells like total shit. So, might I suggest this: Sex without a bond is sex. Sex with a bond is mating. Mating at a location of importance is marriage. The latter being seen as Eywa officiating the bond. Like how Neytiri told her mother that she and Jake were 'Mated before Eywa." THAT wording makes it feel to me that it's important where they mated. Similar to how we humans tend to marry in religious/important places. Making it so a entire species doesn't have sex/ act lewdly with their intended partner before marriage at all smells like purity culture to me. That and teenagers must get the 'birds and the bees' talk at some point. because Neytiri obviously knew she was about to marry Jake for life. As she should.
even more on this I guess

I wish Spider stans would stop pretending they even remotely like, appreciate or empathize with Neytiri and just be honest about the way they feel about her. To me these people are even worse than open Neytiri antis exactly because of how shamelessly hypocrital they are. They try to hide a disgustingly racist (and often misogynistic as well) view of Neytiriâs character behind a fake mask of appreciation. And what is worse is that they use this mask to deflect any type of criticism, by shamelessly having this immensely infuriating âsee? I said I love Neytiri so Iâm justified in saying the most atrocious and racist things about her and you canât call me out for it!â attitude, and using this âIâm not being racist and misogynistic to her, Iâm simply making honest critiques about her character, and actually Iâm allowed to say these atrocious and racist things about her because you Neytiri stans are incapable of criticizing her, when you defend her from the racist treatment she receives youâre actually doing her a disserviceâ narrative to put themselves on a moral high ground and to further pass themselves off as the #real Neytiri fans and understanders. The majority of the fandom will buy and praise their bullshit because the majority of the fandom is just as racist and misogynistic as them, but their viewpoints are actually always very clear to anyone who has a working brain and basic human empathy. At least have the courage to be open about them.

Iâve been feeling like this blog didnât suit me anymore and have been perceiving it like a burden for so long now, turns out I just needed to change my layout lol
It is such a deplorable and revolting thought to believe that Neytiri doesnât hate humans anymore for the sole reason that she accepted Spider, or that, even worse, accepting Spider healed her and made her let go of her (absolutely legitimate) hatred of her colonizers.
Just so you know: you can hate and be angry at your oppressors and still have a happy, peaceful life. Neytiri didnât magically let go of her hatred and rage when she accepted Spider (which is something she did NOT owe him or need to do in order to heal). Assuming the opposite is absurd and insulting.
Adding onto this because you've articulated something the fandom dances around but rarely says directly.
I'm gonna have a pretty controversial take here, and might get some people disagreeing with me, which is totally fine, but lets keep it civil please.
Spoilers Ahead!
I donât mean to insult or attack you, but this is genuinely one of the most insensitive takes Iâve ever seen about Neytiri, a purposely dishonest framework that centers an extremely harmful colonial narrative. Iâm not going to extensively respond to everything you said as Iâm too upset to do that, but I will touch on the focal points.
First of all, you entirely centered white humans in an Indigenous womanâs pain and grief about her oppression. That alone makes everything you said automatically invalid to me. Prioritizing how the unconscious effects of Neytiriâs grief and trauma are unfair to Spider and Jake instead of prioritizing Neytiriâs grief and trauma themselves is unjust. This isnât to say that this topic is not worth discussing, but this was utterly unrelated to what I said, and I find it very telling how every single post that centers Neytiri and her trauma always needs to be made about Spider (or Jake too), while Neytiri and her feelings are never actually allowed to be the focus, because prioritizing white people in an Indigenous womanâs oppression is always more important. You took my post and completely distorted its original point to make Spider the main focus of Neytiriâs feelings about her oppression, and in doing so you proved to be exactly like the people I was criticizing.
Second of all, insinuating that Neytiri needed to accept Spider in order to heal is also extremely insulting, which is the exact point I was making. Once again, this is centering a white human boy in her grief. Neytiri accepting Spider is a reflection of her character development and her capabilty to let go of the unnecessary and misplaced hatred she was feeling; it was NOT the source nor the pinnacle of her healing journey.
Third of all, the way you framed the situation is completely wrong and insensitive: like the main source of Neytiriâs pain is not the brutal colonization and genocide she has endured all her life, but the rightful anger that emerged as a reaction to said oppression. Failing to center colonization as the root of her problems and feelings is a dishonest, unjust and invalid framing.
You also seem to have misunderstood a focal point that was actually very clear in my original post: I never said or implied that Neytiri being consumed by hatred and anger is a good thing or that is compatible with a peaceful life. I simply said that itâs insulting to assume that accepting Spider singlehandedly healed Neytiri and magically made her let go of her legitimate hatred of her colonizers. There is a HUGE difference between feeling hatred and anger towards your oppressors (which is something Neytiriâand countless other Naâviâwill normally & rightfully always do) and being consumed by said anger and hatred. Neytiri risked the latter situation, but successfully managed to move on from it (not because of Spider, but because of her own strength); this, however, does not mean she needs to completely let go of her anger and hatred in order to heal and live a peaceful life. That was the entire point of my post.
Another point that literally made my blood boil is your statement that the RDAâs racist view of the Naâvi is equal to Neytiri being prejudiced to her literal colonizers. Not only comparing, but EQUATING an Indigenous womanâs perfectly normal and valid generalized view of her colonizers (caused by the endless and brutal oppression they cause her and her people) to the racist and dehumanizing view of Indigenous people held by said colonizersâview that is literally used to justify their colonization and genocideâis nothing short of revolting and shameful. I refuse to elaborate on this, and the fact that I even had to point this out is disgraceful enough.
The idea that Neytiri has some sort of moral failing because she hates all humans is also extremely disgusting. Humansâyes, humansâare her and her peopleâs COLONIZERS. Grace was an ally, but she was also a colonizer. So was Jake. So was Norm, so was EVERY SINGLE HUMAN that came to Pandora. Demanding that a victim of colonization puts aside the horrific trauma she has endured because disliking her oppressors in general is unfair to the good ones is VILE. And by the way, Neytiri KNOWS not all humans are like that. She closely cooperates with them for almost two decades, and has close relationships with many of them for most of her life. Yet she is still allowed to hate humans as a whole, because THEY ARE HER COLONIZERS. These are not contradictory statements. Sheâor any other Omatikaya or Naâviâdoes not owe ANY human any form of compassion or understanding, because they (as a whole) are their colonizers. Once again, you are taking the brutal oppression of a population and centering (former) colonizers (which are not harmed in any way shape or form by Neytiriâs dislike of them) in it because ânot all of them are the sameâ. I ask you: why are colonizersâ (possible) hurt feelings (yes, even if said people are allies, or simply related to colonizers instead of being colonizers themselves) always more important than the horrific, unimaginable trauma and grief caused by colonization of Indigenous people?
Reducing Neytiriâs extremely deep and layered trauma to âshe canât love Jake and hate humans at the same timeâ is also immensely reductive, superficial, objectively wrong, and it demonstrates your white-centric viewpoint and how little empathy you decide do grant Neytiri so that you can favor and center white people over an Indigenous womanâs pain. Neytiri loving Jake and hating humans as a whole are feelings that seem completely contradictory on a superficial level, but can, and do, coexist within her. I have actually written a very in-depth analysis about this topic, extensively explaining why a) Neytiri does not and never did hate her children or Jake, but rather she resents the fact that they have her oppressorsâ blood inside of them (which is a very significant difference), and b) that this is not a choice or intentional misdeed on her behalf, but an unconscious trauma response that she unwillingly has, and which causes her an extremely painful inner turmoil.
Lastly, I just want to touch very quickly on your assumption/âaccusationâ that because I defend Neytiriâs anger, I automatically refuse to discuss traits of her character in a critical way. I have written extensive meta about controversial aspects of Neytiri that 99% of people, including her stans, donât talk about or even acknowledge. Again, you have taken my post and purposely distorted its meaning so that you could write about something that was completely unrelated to it, and misinterpreted my words so much that you felt comfortable making absolutely baseless assumptions about me.
This was an extremely dishonest framing of Neytiriâs character, feelings and situation that entirely operates on and centers a colonial and anti-Indigenous line of thinking, which is harmful even if applied to fictional characters. I am not interested in having a conversation with you, I just wanted to address the awful and disingenuous things you said, even though I know most people will agree with you, because unfortunately most Avatar fans on this app prefer and even celebrate this colonial and white supremacist narrative.

sick and tired of the male centerdness of avatarblr. i hope this fandom explodes
Thinking about Neytiri in the depth of her grief for Silwanin, devastated by pain and anger and guilt, suddenly being hit by the realization that now she has to fill her role as well. That by murdering Silwanin, the sky people not only took her sister away, they stole her freedom too
