I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.

It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.

I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

Heyyyy I'm an absolute dork and never check my inbox...this may be wayyy too late to answer, but if the offer is still on the table I would absolutely love your help! I'm willing to read anything you'd like in return!

To be completely transparent, this is an in-progress work, just hit 30k words on it. I will have the final draft completed August 15th, and would love for betas to be finished reading with feedback by end of August, as I will be researching agents and querying in all of September. Sound crazy? It is-I am due with my first baby in October and I'll be damned if this book isn't completely ready by then.

What I'm looking for is story-oriented feedback, pacing, character growth, worldbuilding issues or things you want to see more of. If you're more of a grammar oriented person that's great too, I already have on beta who has really honed in on that and sharpened my draft immensely, so no worries if you miss something.

For any other prospective beta readers, here is my one-sentence pitch: After a paranormal attack leaves Adelaide slowly dying, she suddenly finds herself traveling west, seeking a cure and answers to the source of the hordes of ghosts traveling the desert.

Three weeks and then some have just *wooshed* on by since my dad's death and I don't know where all the time has gone.

It'll be his funeral tomorrow (today technically) and my body's already going on lockdown and it's only gone past midnight 🫠

The funeral came and went, and everyone survived.

I cried and felt sick to my stomach (literally), but it was a beautiful day. Now everything feels a little off, a little empty, but it's a good place to keep going from.

I love you, dad, and I hope you can rest easy now. Stay close until we meet again. ❤️

Title Poll

Y'all I need you to help me decide on a title for my wild west fantasy. She's had the working title The Hummingbird Witch, because that's what I've always called it, but now that I move further into the draft, idk if it captures the grit and darkness (and occasional gore) that the story lends itself to. I'm toying with calling it Six Feet Above Snakes, instead, but I want to hear your input. I'll keep the poll up for a week, feel free to reblog and share to other places if you want.

#I voted no preference because...#1) I have grown attached to The Hummingbird Witch and I've always thought it's an amazing cool title!#2) personally I think it fits the story while leaving some things foe the reader to find and figure out as the story progresses #3) Six Feet Above Snakes! Ohmahgad! It sounds very pretty and smooth #4) that definitely has a different vibe to it #5) they're both cool and I cannot decide :D
