"Let's move the meeting forward."
Like Dan and Phil, I would also interpret it as having the meeting later.
forward = forwards in time = later
back = backwards in time = earlier
I never view time as coming towards or away from me. Things can happen earlier or later in a linear path. You move forwards in time, so to me, moving a meeting forward means moving it further along the path.
I remember Sci Guys saying something about this in one of their episodes. Whether you interpret moving a meeting forward as having the meeting earlier or later is actually a cultural thing and can change depending on your language and background.
I think that it's better to do away with this language and just say "Let's change the time of the meeting to x o'clock."
That's direct and to the point. Also, it will help out neurodivergent peeps, and those naturally confused like Dan and Phil.
