As for how you and others can help, I would ask that you contact Arena Stage, where RTC will be produced next with the same production team from Princeton, and let them know how the fans feel. I did my own outreach to their Executive Producer/President, and had no success. The PDF showing my conversation with him [linked here] can also be requested by emailing me at [email protected], you’re welcome to share the thread upon receiving it.

The most important things to let Arena Stage know are that RTC fans demand their production do the following:

1. Cast an actor with the appropriate disabilities necessary to play Ricky.

2. Ensure the set is not just Equity compliant but ADA compliant for that actor’s safety.

3. Recognize the contributions of disabled actors, namely yannick-robin eike, toward making the RTC script humanizing to Ricky rather than explicitly ableist.

If you or others would like to make these demands known to Arena Stage, you should tweet at them @ArenaStage on Twitter and direct your emails to [email protected] as well as [email protected].

I mulled over whether or not to reach out to Arena for the whole year, and when I did do it, I thought I did so with professional candor—yet, it didn’t work. So I don’t know what else I can do beyond asking for help and taking this to the press, such as Playbill, etc. I am scared, but I have been given a gift that I thought was impossible: I don’t feel alone in this anymore.
