I see you. I see the way you searched for love, for comfort, for a soft place to land. I see the way you stayed quiet to keep the peace, the way you tried to earn affection that should have been freely given. I’m sorry you didn’t get what you needed. I’m sorry the arms that should have held you were so often closed, or only opened when it was convenient.

You deserved warmth. You deserved safety. You deserved to be understood without having to fight for it.

I want you to know that I’m here now. I’m learning how to care for you in the ways no one ever did. I’m building a life where your needs are not too much. Where your feelings are not a burden. Where your voice can be heard—loud or soft—and still be valid.

It’s okay to grieve what we didn’t get. It’s okay to cry for the love that should have been ours. But we are not stuck there. We’re growing something new. Something gentler. Something real.

You are loved—by me. And I will keep showing up, even when it’s hard.
