never good— just the bad and the ugly.

“kai,” wren spoke seriously. “i think you already know the answer to that. of course i wanna meet bluey and marina. they love meeting new people, i love meeting new dogs... it’s a win-win.”

“in a way, yeah. sure.” wren didn’t anticipate having to explain his talent to anyone. not this soon, anyways. but it could’t hurt to try. “you ever heard of pixie hallow ? that’s my home. my  mom and i are animal talents, so we, ya know, help, well, animals.”

he was just as confused if not more as the boy continued talking. it wasn’t until the other’s inquiry did wren begin to understand. “oh.. oh. you meant like actually attend classes ...then i don’t think so. i’m, i’m not a bird.” he spoke carefully as he attempted to clear the misunderstanding.”not sure if that lil guy could be something else as well as a bird, to be honest. i’m a fairy, though,” he added. “if that makes any sense.”

“no, no... you’re fine,” wren assured, a bit embarrassed he wasn’t the first to apologize for the mess. “it was my fault too.” he felt even worse when the other began cleaning up the mess on his own. wren knelt down and looked the boy straight in the eye, “you don’t have to.. really. i’ll help.”

“likewise, abraxas,” he finally cracked a smile, intrigued by the boy’s kindness. “nothing was wrong, luckily. he just needed a little help flying out of the nest and it’s sorta my job to help.”

“yeah, maybe not for you or other people... but i... i don’t,” wren shook his head. “i don't have to explain to you.” he sighed and rolled his eyes slightly, giving in. “i’m wren. like the, uh, like the bird.”

wren started his morning by helping a mother bird move her nest to a safer location than the roof of his house. he was late for class because of this, but missed it altogether since he stopped to solve a few other animals’ predicaments. after all of that, the animal talent decided it was time for a snack and headed towards the dining hall. after getting his food,  he walked towards the exit but distractedly studied the map on his phone. the collision happened in a flash— the fairy walked right into someone who seemingly walked into him as well, the both of them losing their food as it went flying around them and onto their clothes. “dude,” he spoke seriously, not adding anything else since he was torn between what the fuck and are you okay.
