(Gay) Love and Thunder

Let’s say Mobius ends up in the middle of a lot of very dangerous very violent action again due to timeline overlap screw-ups, and Loki sees it in time, immediately projecting himself out to fix what’s happening. Mobius sees him, and Loki knows he’s just yards away from him, but he won’t turn around to face him.

I feel like Mobius’ voice would hit Loki’s ears like sandpaper. The first time he calls out his name it makes him flinch and stumble. It would sound so painful and grating to hear, like the sound of his feet on the ground getting louder. Because even as Mobius starts running towards him, bursting into a near sprint, yelling his name, Loki can’t look back or listen to him.

Because he knows if he let himself hear him, or see him, or touch him, he would crumple IMMEDIATELY. He would lose any and all restraint he had that kept him from simply letting go of all of his duties and staying with him. He’d know if he ever got to hold onto him again he would never be able to make himself let go, and the pain of having to break Mobius’ heart ALL OVER AGAIN because his inevitable next departure would literally kill him.
