The keeper leaned down until she was next to the other woman’s ear. “Are you sure I’m not the boss of you?”

Kelley began to respond, feeling ‘little Tobito’ begin to stir, but Hope cut her off. “I’d think carefully about that, pet.”

The younger woman swallowed, putting down her roll. Tobin (Kelley)’s face was flushed pink; she didn’t even duck as more projectiles flew from Allie and hit her in the face.

“That’s what I thought.” Hope sat back satisfied. She felt powerful, more like her old self. It may have been Tobin’s body that just whimpered in submission, but in her heart, she knew who it really was that just made that cute little sound.

“I heard that,” the real Tobin muttered next to Hope. She thought pregnancy would be the only thing to make her feel the need to throw up. It turns out hearing their star keeper saying that to her body was enough to make her want to upchuck her dinner.

“Oh yah?” Again she lowered her volume, making sure that no other table would hear them. “Hear your going to squeezing out Harris’s big headed spawn soon.”

“Fucking hell, you told her, Al!” Ashlyn hissed, purposefully ignoring Solo’s quip about her head.

“Of course, I didn’t,” Kelley (Ali) actually looked hurt at the accusation. “Her mate must have told her.”

“I did not,” Tobin (Kelley) denied. “I can keep a secret. I kept Pressy’s thressome a secret!”

“A WHAT!”

“KELLEY!”

“WooooooooW”

“Little one,” Hope growled.

“Whoops…well I kept it a secret for a looooooong time.”

“Not long enough.” Christen ground her teeth as she glared at Tobin (Kelley) and tried to avoid her real mate’s eyes, her patience almost non-existent.

Kelley ignored the way Tobin’s stomach sank at Christen’s obvious fury and smiled cheekily at her friend. “That’s too bad because I have a lot more secrets I could share with the group”

“Don’t,” Christen ground out, her teeth clenched.

Ali (Tobin) was torn; half of her wanted to know exactly what secrets Kelley knew about her mate, but the other half of her wanted to silence the defender forever to ensure she never spoke another word about her mate’s past sex life. In her mind, she liked to believe Christen was pure and never touched by another alpha. Of course, Kelley had to ruin every good girl image she had ever had of her omega.

“Oh, but it would be so fun,” Tobin (Kelley) smiled, teeth flashing. “In fact, I think they might even help Toby. After all, I know your favorite little bedroom proclivities, which I bet you haven’t even shared with her yet.”

“Shut up,” Christen was a step away from strangling the woman that looked like her mate. “What I was into then is not necessarily what I want now.”

“Oh yah? I bet you’re still like it-”

The defender’s words were cut off as Hope cuffed her in the back of the head. “Another word out of you and I’m going to tell everyone what about Hillary.”

“Hillary…as in Clinton?” Tobin (Kelley) asked confused momentarily as she forgot about her previous teasing of her ex-roommate.

“Mmmmm, nope.” Hope’s smirk was wide as she put her arm around the omega turned alpha’s shoulders. “You know, our friend Knighter.”

Normally, Kelley would have been cowed at the threat, aware that for Hope to mention the hockey star that she must have pushed the boundary beyond fun teasing to being annoying. But there was something about the way the hairs on the back of her neck bristled at Hope’s attempt to control her. “Go ahead. Tell them.”

Hope’s brow furrowed at the unexpected response. A lot of people thought that Kelley didn’t have the capacity to be embarrassed, but Hope definitely knew differently. Not that she intentionally wanted to torture her true mate, but something about this didn’t feel right. “You sure?”

Tobin (Kelley) sat forward, unable to back down from the challenge. “Yah. I don’t mind everyone knowing that we sometimes bring her in. She’s another hot alpha.”

“Gross.” Kelley (Ali) squirmed.

But Kelley could recognize the look on her own face and grinned. “Do you really think that’s gross? Because from where I’m sitting it seems like that’s something you might enjoy? Maybe Pressy isn’t the only one–”

Christen gritted her teeth. “Stop it.”

Hope did the next best thing she could think of to spare the other omegas from Kelley’s torture and knocked Tobin (Kelley)’s head with the palm of her hand. “Knock it off,” she ordered, very briefly allowing her alpha pheromones to escape in order to back up her authority.

At this point, any good sense Kelley might have had was beyond recovery. If she had sat down and thought about it, maybe she could have calmed herself down. But she felt almost euphoric; with a sweet smell wafting toward her and a stirring low in her gut there was no way she was going to back down. Hope’s idle threats only made her bristle. “Make me.”

“I’d be happy to.” Hope retorted firmly.

Tobin (Kelley) was acutely aware of Christen shifting uncomfortably and growled when Ali (Tobin) tried to place a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Back off.”

Ashlyn could feel her own protective urges surging, even if it was only her mate’s body that was under fire. She slapped the table forcefully. “Leave her alone!”

“Uh, guys?” Kelley (Ali) looked around, feeling her cheeks flush with embarrassment as the rest of the team was now watching them curiously. She could clearly see the flushed look on Christen’s face as well, though her face fell as she realized that Christen was hot under the collar for another reason. “Maybe it’s best if we all calm down.”

“Shut up. This is between me and Hope.” Tobin (Kelley) practically shouted, her own pheromones releasing.

The hackles on the back of Hope’s neck raised. She leaned forward gripping the front of Tobin’s jersey. “Back the fuck down, pet.” The last word hissed low, so only her true mate could hear the last word.

“You can’t make me do anything,” Tobin (Kelley) spat. Her face closer to Hope’s. Their noses almost touching, breathe ghosting against the other’s cheeks.

“Submit,” the keeper growled.

The room stared at the two alphas. Ashlyn stood in front of Kelley (Ali) and Ali (Tobin) wanting to protect her mate as well as the baby growing inside of her non-mate.

The real Tobin’s eyes weren’t on the other alphas though; instead, she was focused on her mate. Sweat was pooling on the nape of the omega’s neck, a sheen of perspiration shining on her brow. The midfielder knew she had to do something. Her mate was in obvious pain, her heat having arrived, feeding the alphas in their continuous loop of aggression.

Ali (Tobin) stood up on the table. She needed to distract the room. “I have an announcement.”

The room’s eyes turned to her.

“We’re having a baby.”

There’s a stunned silence that filled the room at the surprise announcement. Ali was never one to make sudden declarations and having this happen during Jill’s experimenting phase, everyone was a little thrown.

Ashlyn, unfortunately and most definitely without thinking, was the first to react. “That’s awesome, congratulations dude.”

Any excited congratulations died on their teammates lips at Ashlyn’s inadvertent statement. Kelley (Ali) groaned, dropping her head to her hands to avoid the oncoming scene. Of course, Ash had to think it was Tobin in Ali’s body talking about Christen being pregnant. She didn’t make the connection that perhaps Ali (Tobin) was talking about them.

Allie looked between the pair, already having gotten up to congratulate Kriegs and her Pookie on their good news, not even noticing Christen slip out of the room among the commotion. “Congrats!”

Ashlyn looked visibly confused. “Thanks?”

Kelley (Ali) gritted her teeth. This is not how she wanted this to all go. She wanted this to be her moment. A moment where she and Ash announced their baby, perhaps with a picture or a cute Instagram message. No, they were stuck now because of the switching bodies situation.

“You know,” Kelley (Ali) said slinging her arm around Ash’s shoulders, “We are all so proud that you and Ali are having a baby.”

Ash’s eyes widened. She really needed to step up her game with this whole switching bodies things. Maybe if she had gotten more sleep, she wouldn’t be making these glaringly obvious mistakes. “Oh, oh yah. That’s right. We’re having a baby!”

Allie’s eyes still held something akin to suspicion, but she still came up hugging the couple. Kelley (Ali) backed off slightly, her heart aching at missing out on this moment, something she had always dreamed about. She suddenly felt overwhelmed. This wasn’t fair. None of it was.

Her heart thudded hard against her ribs, her fast pulse making a near deafening thump in her ears. She had to get out of there.

Without looking back, she ran.

Ash tried to smile. She was happy that they were having a baby, but she wanted her Ali there with her, not Tobin in Ali’s body. Everything about the alpha turned omega was wrong. Her movements were clumsy. Where defender would be crossing her legs, Ali (Tobin) had her stance wide open. Her signature messy bun was a sloppy ponytail. Her smile was a curved smirk, hiding panic behind it as every started questioning her at once.

The team might not be able to notice the subtle differences, but to the keeper, they were readily apparent.

Ali–her Ali, not the one that was in Ali’s body–barely made it past the door before the keeper felt her own feet following her true mate. As soon as she was out of the hotel conference room that had been converted into their dining hall, she called after her mate. “Ali wait.”

Even in her heartbroken haze and in a body that wasn’t her own, Ali couldn’t help but turn at the heartbroken tone of her alpha. “Ash. Please, just leave me alone. Go be with Ali. Give me a minute, and I’ll pull myself together.”

“I’m never going to leave you alone.”

Before Kelley (Ali) could speak, Ash’s lips were on, needy and imploring as the keeper’s tongue begged entrance. Going one day without kissing her mate was hard, going several had been near impossible.

The lips weren’t as full, and the face felt different under Ash’s hands, but so much more felt exactly right. The way the omega moved her mouth. The way she sighed when Ash nipped her lip. The way she let Ash back her into the wall, pressing close.

A whimper escaped Kelley (Ali)’s lips. The keeper didn’t even care about the difference in sound. She was too caught up in the closeness. She felt a soothing warmth in her very being. This was her mate.

“Stop it,” Hope barked, physically separating the two. Pushing Kelley behind her and Ash in front of her, she put herself between them. She knew alphas did not take well to being separated from their mates, even mates in different bodies.

Ash growled, seeing red. “Get away from Ali!”

The blonde went for the older alpha, hands coming up to physically move the brunette. She wasn’t fast enough. Hope’s open hand was already there, slapping her hard across the face effectively snapping her out of the haze.

“Hope?” she asked, not even realizing it was her fellow keeper that was between them. She had only seen a threat, not who it really was.
