Cheryl Strayed's writing is so beautifully crafted to me. It's crafted but not manufactured or rote or pretentious. It just feels like every word is well-chosen, like every piece is well-planned. I love the feeling of being cradled, like I'm in the hammock of a writer's plan.

There's something about hearing an author read their own work that gives it a unique life - and #humor. Saw this at a tiny shop in a tiny seaside town and felt like time stops while I look at it. So I brought it home. It's called Seaweed and it's made with concrete. It reminds me of feeling like the ocean has so many secrets, which is somehow a comfort. Like thinking that life is always thriving somewhere.

New on the #shelfie: Negroland by Margo Jefferson, a #memoir of her life in #Chicago. From the first sentence, I'm finding so much I relate with and so many historic details that are not only essential to learn (or re-learn, if you already know a lot about the American #history of slavery) but also emotionally impactful. #memorable

Getting the kids a subscription to @teenvogue was never on my parental #todolist. But then they had that lucid op-ed on gaslighting.
