Getting older and

Feeling smaller as I’m trapped

We create perfect

Realities in our minds

my only wish was to  lie back and dissolve; maybe the other world will be  warmer than this one.  so I did. 

II.

(he says to breathe, love, breathe) who calls me love? I don’t love  it was the one who killed me.  (have you ever heard ‘kill them with kindness’?)  ((that’s the way it works) 

III. 

the leaves scintillate, black spots and white flashes, blinding  at this point nothing you say can keep me, a red-stained bird with crinkled feathers.   don’t keep me.  (‘if you love something let it go,’ they say)

IV.

and i can see the sky now it’s black as hatred. my head hurts.  i don’t want it to hurt anymore.  you pray. i pray too. we pull me in different directions.  ('Beware of Greeks bearing gifts,’ or so it goes)  ((maybe i should’ve listened))

We have a spectrum

Of emotion and lately

Getting older and

Feeling smaller as I’m trapped

Just when I was sure my garden was in recovery I looked closer to find weeds impersonating flowers

It appears nothing is ever…as it seems I had learned to paint meadows as if they were real

I poisoned the briers shredded their hooks discarded paints and brushes and taught my hands to sow seed

it’s out there

Feel the stars

on the back

of your neck

Feel the hiss

of the breeze

on the leaves

and the solar

lights twinkling

as they climb
