📚 Book Review : Hollow by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Hollow is a dark fantasy with a very different vibe, mixing spirits, necromancy, and a haunting atmosphere. The book grabs your attention right from the start, with shocking moments early on that immediately pull you into the story.

The main character, Ferris Creed, is strong, determined, and genuinely likable, even though her true nature remains a mystery in this first book. Overall, she’s a great character, but one thing that bothered me was how slow she can be in critical moments. This happens more than once, and it felt unnecessary and frustrating, especially considering how capable and smart she’s portrayed to be.

The male lead, Hendrix Bane, has a very intriguing presence and fits the villain-hero archetype perfectly on the surface. He constantly emphasizes how dangerous and powerful he is, but in practice, he ends up helping the protagonist most of the time, which made his character feel a bit overpromised in this first installment.

I really enjoyed the action scenes, fights, and moments involving spirits. However, there are sections with repetitive inner thoughts and dialogue that slow the pacing, especially around the middle of the book. That said, the story picks up again toward the end with more action and a solid plot twist.

✨📚 Review: The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber ⭐ 5

I just finished The Ballad of Never After and I had so much fun reading this book. It completely hooked me from beginning to end, with so many things happening that it’s impossible to put it down. I really enjoyed the first book, but this second one? I absolutely loved it.

The story continues following Evangeline in a magical world full of mysteries, dangerous deals, and complicated characters, especially Jacks, the Prince of Hearts. Without spoilers, this book answers many questions left from the first one and helps you understand the world so much better, while still leaving you desperate for more.

One of my favorite parts was learning more about Jacks’ past, especially when the story shows the Hollow, where he lived. That part added so much depth to the characters. Even so, you finish the book wanting to know even more about Jacks and, most of all, what is going to happen to Evangeline.

Overall, this second book was an amazing experience. It’s fast-paced, emotional, and full of twists and mystery. So far, I think it’s even better than the first book, and I already thought the first one was great. Definitely a five-star read for me.
