Anakin’s expression softened into one of guilt once he saw how his questions truly affected his Master. He curled in on himself, hands in his lap as he thought over his many questions. There was so much he wanted to ask, but he couldn't find the words easily now. "I don't know." He needed to collect himself too.

After a breath, he asked, "Do you think he would like me?" It wasn't a Jedi's job to be liked, but Anakin hoped he was making the man proud. He'd changed so much since Qui-Gon took him under his wing. As much as Anakin himself had grown since then, so had his own doubt and insecurity.

WHATVER QUESTION obi - wan had been expecting , do you think he would like me had certainly NOT been it . he can't explain it really , but something about the question hurts him , stings something inside of him that he can't really place . but he hears the vulnerability in anakin and , even he didn't , obi - wan doesn't really have the words to express this feeling anyway , so he lets it lie .

there is still , of course , anakin's question that lies between them , and obi - wan isn't entirely sure how to answer . yes , is the answer , really , he imagines . but then , there are two different questions , aren't there ? anakin not asking if qui - gon would be proud of him . no . would he LIKE him ? and obi - wan had such a time knowing the machinations of his master's mind .

HIS BROW arches at the attitude he receives . since when is a dire warning from a strange old man not enough to scare someone off .

the sieges in the outer rim had been months longer than padmé had anticipated, particularly to go so long without contact... she had spent far too many restless nights worried, thinking about how anakin, & of course obi-wan were all faring. turbulence on coruscant only seemed to be growing as things worsened across the galaxy, her own internal sense of turmoil included. she could not have been more relieved to know that they were both back in one piece. it did nothing for her worries of the senate's future, which seemed to be more & more fragile with each passing of emergency power to chancellor palpatine. but that was not conversation for an open hallway - nor a priority for the first time she'd seen him in months.

OBI - WAN HAS never been a particular fan of politicians . they sneak and lie and backstab to get what they want , and you can never trust the word of any of them .

that is , of course , until two very particular senators had managed to weasel their way into a friendship with him , making him look like something of a hypocrite to his former padawan , he's sure .
