this is a hard sentence to grapple with, because "it's a structural issue" is something very hard to fix and "it's recreating existing social bias" puts the reader in a situation where they have to grapple with the fact that they may be unconsciously reproducing and spreading that bias.

in an ideal world, people would have all the time and effort and bandwidth needed to combat that issue by going out and actively seeking out more varied creators, but a lot of people will bristle at being told they have to put in a lot of effort to combat bias in what is supposed to be their relatively low-stakes space of engagement. whether or not that bristling is justifiable, we don't particularly care to talk about. that is not the point of this post. the point here is that we would like to propose something small that is a little more than "the bare minimum" of not being actively and willfully racist, something that should not take much more effort than MCYT fans are already putting in to find new creators they might enjoy anyway.

treat recommendations for non-white MCYTers just a tiny bit more seriously than you would in passing.

that's it. seriously. if you get a random YouTube rec, treat it like a very tentative "you might find this cool" from an acquaintance. if you get a distant or tentative recommendation from a friend, consider it a little more strongly. if something seems "kinda up your alley", put it on the shortlist to watch sooner. if a friend is already going "drop everything and watch this now" then you were probably going to check that thing out anyway. in general, just... give things a tiny bit more of a chance when they are made by creators of color (and other marginalized demographics, but let's focus on one thing in particular here), understanding that those creators have to put in a little more effort to get to the same space as their more broadly acclaimed peers in the first place and they may even have to disguise things with clickbait.

that said, if you are the type of person to claim that one can only be plural/a system if one meets specific diagnostic criteria involving trauma, we urge you to reconsider this stance. you will find only fickle community in attacking your fellows and the broader fandom at large will continue to respectfully ignore you.

just -- we're not going out of our way to argue. but we've been around the block a few times and know firsthand that discourse of this nature only harms people, both those who do and do not fit diagnostic criteria. that in several cases this sort of discourse has been started for the sole purpose OF harming another by inciting harassment against them for quote-unquote "faking" their plurality.

Cleo: When people try to put me in lists... they always lump me in with the girls. And I'm okay with that. Like, it's fine. That doesn't bother me at all— I'm fem presenting, I understand. But the desire to make fan canons of me being transmasc is wild to me because I'm already a different kind of trans, and it's just like... can you just... can you just let me be nonbinary? Like, don't turn me into another trans person, like, nonbinary people? Completely underrepresented in media as it is! Please just make me nonbinary, that's fine! Population is hovering around 270 right now, which is a lot but at least its not growing like 20 a day like it was.

Currently looks at it all

I have a vague plan for more expansion, and I've split it up into districts. I was using different blocks for foundations and chimneys in different buildings, and ended up deciding to deliniate districts/neighborhoods by those blocks.

The Central district contains the original 5 village buildings (with plenty of additions though), and the foundation block is cobblestone.

The Ash Rose district is entirely built by me and fairly filled out. The foundation brick is Ash Bricks from the Supplementaries mod. Largely fisherman villagers since the ocean docks are there. The district name comes from the bricks and also I've use a lot of rose bushes for decor around some of the houses.

The Mill River district is entirely built by me, and it still has room to grow. It contains some riverside docks and then a lot of forestry and carpenter villagers and a big sawmill I built. But there's plenty of other villagers mixed in. I've been trying to leave as many trees as I can over there. The foundation/chimney block is Silt Bricks from Twigs. The name of course comes from the big sawmill and the fact its across the river.

The West Brick district had 1 original village building, and I've added a couple but still has a lot more development needed. There's a decent population though, in part because there were a lot of villagers congregating around there and they didn't have beds so I built a couple basements that are just big rooms with like a bunch of beds (though I made it cozy and decorated). The only working villagers in here though really are some chefs (Farmer's Delight, I believe) and some Occultists (VillagersPlus). So I need more work areas. The foundation blocks are just regular ol' bricks.

The Oceanside district hasn't been built yet, but I've tested out some block and build ideas elsewhere and decided on dark prismarine for the foundation. Technically I think it's a modded brick version of the dark prismarine but I can't remember right now. Currently it's just a beach with a bunch of crabs on it.

And I've also played with expanding a little to the south but I still have a long way before needing to decide that.
