parties never had been lucas' thing, even when he was in school. when everyone else was out drinking, dancing and making memories, he'd be inside, studying. mostly because he was afraid of making a fool of himself in social situations. tonight, he'd been dragged to the event by his mother. she was determined to rub shoulders with the town council, just as she had back in mystic falls. lucas would do anything for his mother, even if it meant he was entirely out of his comfort zone. he was in dire need of refuge, and finally found a room which led out to a balcony. cold air was exactly what he needed, to allow himself a little breather. a hand combed back through auburn locks, and he stepped through the door frame, immediately colliding with another being. "oh! i'm so sorry- i uh.. i wasn't paying attention." lucas stumbled back, blushing furiously as he peered toward jessica, thankful that he'd managed to bump into someone he recognised. he hadn't noticed the mistletoe hanging above them, so was quickly taken aback by the kiss that was planted on his cheek. his breath hitched, heart rate increased and he swallowed hard, his cheeks tinting an even deeper pink. "oh, the mistletoe. of course." he chuckled, gnawing on his bottom lip as he took a step back, allowing her to pass through the door should she want to. "tonight has been.. different to say the least." he admitted, laughing lightly to himself. "my mom is so intent on schmoozing and has pretty much been introducing me to every single person in the room so i was hoping to escape just for a little bit." lucas laughed, nose wrinkling a little.
