Aro and ace activism is housing reform, is well-funded public housing, is an expansion of affordable housing, is allowing single people to get affordable and public housing, is rent controls to make it possible for single people to be able to afford to live alone on a single salary.
Aro and ace activism is healthcare reform, so that no one needs to rely on a spouse for health insurance, so that healthcare is available to everybody regardless of income, so that no one’s lived experiences or basic dignity are dismissed or overridden by doctors
Aro and ace activism is well-funded and expansive public transit, so that you don’t need to have someone on hand to drive you places if you are incapacitated, so that you don’t have to pay for an ambulance if you need to get to the hospital quickly
Aro and ace activism is disability and elder care services, so that no one needs a spouse to care for them, so that no one needs children to care for them, so that marriage is not a bind for disabled people, so that people on disability who want to and can live alone can
Aro and ace activism is community-building, it’s public events, it’s free social activities, it’s mutual aid, it’s activities that bring community members together without socializing relying on just a romantic partner
Aro and ace activism is developing a culture of believing when people tell you who they are and what they want rather than assuming you know them better than they know themselves
Aro and ace activism means a better world for people without “normative” desires or “normative” social support, which means a better world for everybody
I cannot describe how much I laughed at this.
Sound is VERY important.

This post may make some people uncomfy, especially people who have never had to rely on public services to survive. I don’t care.
Government workers need to face much much harsher social and legal consequences for ableism. No exceptions.
I am including bus drivers, transit staff, clerks, caseworkers, and anyone else whose job is to interact with the public in an official capacity.
This is a pattern of behavior where disabled people are treated as inconveniences, liars, burdens, or problems instead of people accessing services they are legally entitled to.
When a bus driver blows past a disabled person because it is inconvenient to deploy a ramp, that is not rudeness. That is denying access to transportation.
When a driver yells at or even just speaks down to someone for taking too long to board, or for needing clarification, or for not moving or standing “correctly,” that is not impatience.
it is harassment backed by institutional power.
When disabled people are humiliated, stranded, made late for work, denied medical appointments, or put in unsafe, scary, or embarrassing situations because a government worker decided they were annoying or not worth the effort, the damage is real and cascading.
Here is a thing we need to acknowledge:
Disabled people cannot opt out of these systems!
You can quit a job with a shitty coworker. You can leave a bad store. You cannot choose to stop needing transportation, healthcare access, benefits offices, or public infrastructure.
These workers are not just random individuals in your life. They are gatekeepers to survival resources.
Which is why I do not give one single solitary shit about the argument that “they are just people too” as a shield against accountability.
No, they are not ‘just people’. They are people acting with the authority of the state.
If a random stranger is ableist to me, that sucks.
If a government worker is ableist to me, that can cost me my job, my housing, my health, or my safety.
Those are not comparable.
I think we need to stop treating ableism from ALL government workers as a minor customer service issue and start treating it as what it is;
A complete and total civil rights violation.
If a bus driver repeatedly refuses to accommodate or be kind to disabled riders-
(yes! including invisible disabilities! Bus drivers should be seen and not heard unless someone is causing a true violent outburst! and no I don’t mean a mentally ill person being a little verbally disruptive, I mean actual physical or verbal outright threats or racism etc)
-they should not just get a slap on the wrist or a “retraining.”
They should be suspended or fired, and if a re-occurring pattern of this behavior exists, there should be severe legal consequences that forbid them from working a government job or any job where they may be working with vulnerable disabled people again.
Because right now the burden is almost entirely on disabled people to document, report, appeal, relive the harm, and hope someone believes them.
And most of the time nothing happens anyway!
We are told to be patient. To be understanding. To remember that the system is underfunded and understaffed.
Meanwhile disabled people are expected to plan their lives around the assumption that they will be mistreated, doubted, or punished for existing in public.
That is structural ableism being enforced and reinforced by individuals who know there will be no real consequences.
If your job is a public facing government role and you cannot treat people, not even just disabled people, all people, because you cannot tell who is disabled, with baseline dignity and respect, you should not have your government job.
This is not radical. This is the bare minimum.
Accessibility is not a favor. It is not optional. It is not something you get to decide is “too much today.”
I am tired of watching disabled people like me absorb endless harm while everyone else rushes to protect the feelings and job security of the people doing the harm.
If the state empowers you, the state should also hold you accountable. Fullstop, end of story.
Black asexual singer Jourdain Pauline was sexually assaulted by the streamer Tylil and she's facing mass online abuse saying she can't be sexually assaulted because she is asexual.
What happened to Jourdin Pauline is what every Black asexual person's been saying since day & a horrifying viral example of what we've been going through for years. Antiblackness & compulsory sexuality have always been linked. It's time to wake the fuck up, ace or not. The core of ace discourse was/is about reinforcing compulsory sexuality not education. 'Not understanding' asexuality, good or bad faith, is used to justify its erasure. It's a classic conservative idea that what doesn't instantly make sense has no right to exist.
The reactionary idea that human sexuality that isn't cisheterosexuality shouldn't exist is tied to anti-victim/survivor rhetoric. When an asexual person is sexually assaulted, the viewer focuses on their 'confusing' nature as the problem instead of the violation + violator.
The idea that Jourdain Pauline deserved to be assaulted for not being cisheterosexual is a chilling but common anti-queer rape culture talking point. Her SA is being justified because she's asexual.
Jourdin Pauline isn't the first Black asexual woman to be sexualised and sexually humiliated due to conservatism. The eroticisation of Yasmin Benoit and Matt Walsh's harassment of Latoya Raveneau come to mind. Most Black ace women know this sexualisation too well.
Most if not all women under patriarchy have faced some form of sexual violence. But because asexuality specifically is seen as going against human nature, it's believed that it needs to be corrected with forced sex/sexual acts. And this belief is commonly shared, even with 'progressives'
What else is left to say really? When you centre whiteness in queerness & support rape culture out of spite for queers you hate, you create the perfect condition for antiblack sexual violence like these to thrive. No one listened to us. The Black asexual is always collateral damage.
The Black asexual is always collateral damage, of white allosexual queers who erase us under the guise of 'progressive' acephobia, white asexuals who engage in puritanism for their own benefit & Black cishet people who believe their sexuality will give them approval from white society.
With the rebrand of fascism, more and more asexual people especially women are gonna come out with being (correctively) SA'd & only very few leftist leaning people will do anything about the rape culture in front of our fucking eyes. It's disgusting.
And I absolutely expect the white asexual/aspec community will ignore Jourdain Pauline's assault & sexualisation like they ignored Latoya Raveneau & Yasmin Benoit. Or give out shallow 'support POC' posts like usual. We're only sexual perpetrators to them, never victims.
I'm gonna encourage other Black aspec figures to help boost this story & support one of our own: @gentlegiantace93 @blkaroculture @asexual-goddessss
Tag for visibility: @avenpt
Note: It's still FUCK this hellsite and it's rasclart users and I'm still never giving you lot my hard work again, but if you learn anything from this post, it's that antiblackness and rape culture, the ones you enable on here and beyond, the one I've been warning you all about, the one I got harassed on here by white queer people and non Black queers of colour across the entire gender and sexuality spectrum for, exists in the real world and the consequences are deadly. If you feel bad reading this, you should.

Is this anything
We don't talk enough about America's permanent ongoing saturation of "Stranger Danger" hysteria. It's like this country's whole social ecosystem teaches full grown adults to perceive an invisible army of rabid bogeymen lurking around every fucking corner. And it's everywhere. Absolutely fucking everywhere, top to bottom, from true crime media and urban legends like the old Poison Halloween Candy thing to our sadistically rage-fueled, revenge-based justice system and immigration policies. The NRA and the war on drugs and post 9/11 airport security and mccarthyism and satanic panic and just E V E R Y T H I N G in America, everything that has defined its history for 100+ years is constantly nothing but this fucking FEAR TERROR FEAR TERROR for positively no reason. None.
Some women are conditioned to be fragile and weak, and to believe that it's a sin to outperform a man. Her feminism would involve allowing women to be strong.
Some women are expected to be strong at times when they can't. Her feminism would involve reassuring her that it's okay to not be strong.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're too stupid to ever amount to anything. Their disability activism would involve reassuring them that they're capable.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're smart and gifted, and are expected to live up to impossible standards. Their disability activism would involve allowing them to fail, make mistakes, be stupid, etc.
Some children are constantly reminded "you're the child, I'm the adult" in order to deny their autonomy. Their youth rights activism would involve treating them like an adult at times when they feel ready for it.
Some children are treated like adults in order to justify increased expectations or to downplay abuse against them. Their youth rights activism would involve allowing them to be a child.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to oppression. Each individual person's experience is different. Whatever trauma is caused by their oppression, the activism should focus on undoing it.

"In the instance an employer makes an illegal request for a photograph as part of a job application, you may submit a complaint to the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission." Successful violation fee collections are paid partially to the one who suffered the violation, which in many cases exceeds a year of work at these shit jobs. There's only two weak points to a corporation, and those are in the budget and in the supply chain. Hit them where it hurts.

The problem with having a child with an attorney that has spoken to the child like an adult since birth is that she's 4 years old and she's negotiating the order in which we're going to complete tasks as a family to best suit her idea of an ideal day.
Penny: We go home, we play the mirror game, we have dessert, we play more games, we have fun deal?
Me: Okay well actually we're going to go home, have dinner, then dessert, then we can play your video game, then tubby then bed
Penny: Okay no tubby, games first, deal?
Me: This is not - what is happening right now?
Penny: Dada?
Dada: Arbitration?
Penny: DEALS!
Every single thing in our lives has become a negotiation and it is frankly ridiculous as it is hilarious.
Penny: I want to use bare foot when we go outside
Me: I didn't know we were going outside but you have to wear shoes girl
Penny: okay but what about I use bare foot's but at Penny's house? This deal?
Me: you know what yeah fine if you agree to not fight about shoes when we leave the house you can be barefoot in the back yard, deal.
Penny: -sticks her hand out expectantly- we deal?
I think I just made a verbal contract with a 4 year old.
She's attempting to establish evidence I think
Penny: but I want to go shool pwease
Dada: okay well it is 8pm, so you have to go to sleep now
Penny: okay but I see my fwiends at shool now please, deal?
Dada: Darling no one is at school, all your friends are asleep as well.
Penny: all Penny's fwiends are sweep? What about we... get in Dadas car and check to see watch them sweep, yes deal?
Dada: I cannot begin to explain to you why that can not happen
The great thing about being beholden to Penny the Deals Warlock is that she is also beholden to the art of the deal
Me: (watching Penny scoot her step stool over to where we keep the candy jar): hey honey we're literally walking out the door to go get dinner, maybe we wait on the candy okay?
Penny: Oh but I will have some candy?
Me: Why don't you come have some mac and cheese and then when we get home you can have some candy, deal?
Penny: (running out the door) oh, yes this is deals!
We are visiting my family and Papa has quickly had to pay patronage to Penny the Deals Warlock
Papa: (yesterday morning, when Penny was a little grumpy) What about you come downstairs and we'll have some waffles and then tomorrow Papa will take you to the Diner in town for breakfast?
Penny: (extending her tiny hand to a VERY confused man) this is deal?
Papa: (not knowing hes entering a literal contract) uhm yeah deal.
-smash cut to 6:30 AM this morning-
Penny (running down the hallway in bare feet) 👹BREAKFAST DEALS👹
Penny has a canker sore to end all canker sores, to the point where she hasn't been able to eat so we had to make some deals surrounding getting some medicine on it because a hungry Penny Rose is like a angry demon queen
Me: Okay baby this is going to suck. This is going to hurt real bad for a second and then it's going to feel weird and then it's going to feel good. You're going to hate it. But if you let Mama get these three medicines in and on you [Listerine, Antacid, Tylenol] you can scream it out and then we'll go get some ice cream! Deal?
Penny: (obviously not thrilled with this idea) okay, three big shreams, three medicines, ice cream ... it will suck... ice cream ... deal. (Sticks out hand and we shake on it)
Me: okay let's do this I'm so sorry (starts the process)
Penny: ( In between her big screams ) IM GONNA GET LOTS OF FRINKLES
My husband is trying to make a deal with Penny to get upstairs and get in the bath tub
Penny: I will go upstairs and get my body clean but you hafta titch me, deal?
Dada: I would love to make this deal with you kid but I literally have no idea what you are saying- I don't know what the terms are, you're speaking a language I don't speak
Penny: you have to titch me like mama does okay DEAL!? (Sticks tiny hand out aggressively)
Dada: (looks at me bewildered for help)
Me: ( starts making a quick tick tick tick sound imitating a stop watch like I'm timing her, while penny jumps around yelling YES TITCH ME LIKE THAT)
Dada: In what world was I ever going to figure that out, thank you for acting as our legal interpreter yes deal let's go!
and off she sprints.
Penny does not want to go to bed, but man is it time for her to go to bed
Penny: But I don't want to be sleeping, I want to stay up now! I want to see Grampy and Cozy and Guppie and Papa!
Mama: What if we video call all the grands and say good night to everyone? If we do that will you then go to bed no fussing?
Penny: Oh yes, this is deals! -sticks her hand out to shake-
** we make the rounds and video call all her grandparents, they are all already in bed and say good night and penny hangs up the last video call and toddles into bed with minimal fussing **
Penny : (after a few minutes of silence, over the video monitor, to herself in her dark bedroom) I hafta respect da deals.
Every morning Penny wakes up, and she asks if we have decorated her house with "Halloween every where" and every morning I have had to tell her not yet baby but soon. This last morning Penny had to go to pre k a little earlier then she is used to cause Daddy had court and I had a dentist appointment, which made her a little bummed out... or so I thought
Me: Hey baby do you want to make a deal about school?
Penny: (immediately sticks out her hand, literally no hesitation, her entire demeanor changing in an instant) yes let's deals, I will be big and brave and go to school no fussing, and you will put Halloween every where all over my house, okay this is deals Mama??
I think I just got hustled by a 4 year old...
