Hello everyone! I am doing an interest check for a Realm of the Elderlings Springfest mini bang event. This will tentatively run from March 1 to May TBD, and involve pairing up writers and artists to produce collaborative works. There is no specific theme. ROTE mentions a celebration of spring with flower garlands, carris-seed-topped cakes, puppet shows, kissing girls and so on!
It would go like this:
Fill out the sign-up form and indicate writer or artist. Writers will pitch a fic idea for a fic between 3-10k words (since this will be collaborative, we want to be mindful of time).
We will assemble an anonymous list of the prompts. Artists will get this list, and choose their 3 favorites and 3 least favorites.
We will pair up writers and artists based on this selection.
At this point, you will collaborate with each other on your ideas for the art and fic and work simultaneously. You will be able to show each other WIPs to make sure you're on the same page, but DO NOT share with anyone else!
When it is time to post, you'll post as co-authors on Ao3! I will create an event for it at the time of sign-ups.

Hello everyone, and thanks for your patience! We have had some changes with the Winterfest Gift Exchange due to the retirement of the core team of peksies at @winterfest-gift-exchange. They ran a great event that is responsible, at last count, for close to 20% of the fanworks posted on AO3 over the years, which is an incredible accomplishment. @whatevsbla and @alloysius-g have earned their peksie pensions so please congratulate them on their many years of dedicated service.
Myself, @gwenllian-in-the-abbey (you might recall I joined the previous team last year!) and @wolveshavenokings are re-launching Winterfest, and with new management comes a new blog! You might know the two of us from the Robin Hobb discord server, where @wolveshavenokings is the owner and I am one of the admins. In addition, we have @divine529 , @halcyonhowl and @dandelions-and-white-wolves on the Winterfest team! Although it is not required at the moment, we encourage you to join the discord server if you are interested in participating, as we will use it as a major tool for communication and coordination.
Due to the changes, our dates have been pushed back slightly this year. What follows is the revised timeline for the 2024 gift exchange (yeah, we're still calling it the 2024 gift exchange even though the gifts will be revealed when it is technically 2025).
Important Dates for 2024-25:
Sign ups: November 15th-December 1st
Sign ups close: December 1st at midnight EST
Matches sent with details of your giftee's request: December 15th
Check-in (your chance to tell us if you think you won't be able to finish: January 1st
Completion deadline: January 31st Gifter reveals: February 1st

What a wonderful future Bee fic! It really has a way of giving closure on certain parts of the ending of the series and a very sweet focus on Bee's relationship with her remaining family members. I went with Fitz and the Fool with canon diverge ending, where Fitz can finally be part of the court as Dutiful's advisor.

Those clothes are a treasure and the details of the silver scars and scales are amazing. They look self-assured and comfortable in their own skin, which is wonderful for so many reasons and also like they may or may not be talking shit about someone. what blooms on Aslevjal My Winterfest gift for aravendown on AO3! The request was anything with these two, with Winterfest fluff and hurt/comfort as potential jumping-off points. This may not be set in actual winter, but they're bundled up and it's cold, right? The flowers are tufted saxifrage, and yes I did research to pick something that could plausibly be found on a glacial island. I was so relieved when I double-checked the text to confirm that they did indeed do the Aslevjal quest in summer. Sometimes I forget everything but how much I freaking cried through this book. spiritually I am holding hands with everyone else who hoped that Fitz would ever make up for the bit with the flowers. This is a must-see, the most brilliant Kebal Rawbread fanart in existence! Kebal is a very tragic and unknown character despite being the leader of the Red Ship Raiders and this fanart shows him at his peak - soldier, sailor, catalyst, king indeed, with the ghostly lady who's made it all happen at his side!
She is definitely not planning anything nefarious with that hand covering his eyes. I absolutely adore the symbolism there!
