🍊 What is your OC’s favourite meal? Snack? Dessert? Drink? Any reasons behind this besides liking how it tastes?

Nin’s favourite meal consists of small buns filled with ground meat and herbs, with a side of very hot chicken broth full of vegetables. This is what his mother used to cook for him when he was sick as a child.

His sweet tooth is legendary, so his favourite snacks and desserts are very sweet things, usually with lots of honey, lemon or cinnamon.

For the drink, lemony things (again) like either a very hot tea with two spoonfuls of (you guessed it) honey or a very cold lemonade with a dash of mint.

🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making!

Nin’s overall a pretty positive person. He tries to see the best in everyone, and make the most of any situation. 

He tends to not see the bigger picture when making decisions, and not think about the long-term impact of said decisions. He’s determined to work on this issue, since he has only people’s best interests in mind.  

💧 What is the earliest memory your OC can recall? Do they know what their first words were or remember where they took their first steps? Do they have any mementos of their childhood they’ve kept such as a stuffed toy or tiny baby clothes?

He remembers trying to eat a living slug, his father freaking out and his mother laughing in the background. He was four.

His first word was ‘honeybee’. 

He doesn’t remember where he took his first steps, but his mother told him it was during a small trek through the forest while she was watching over the harts and the hallas of the clan.

The only thing he kept from his childhood is a blanket his mother crocheted. Its very bright and represents a fire turning into a beautiful sunset.

🛍️ Function or Aesthetic? Skirts or Pants? Heels or Flats?

He likes aesthetic things, but unless it’s both aesthetically pleasing and functional he won’t pick it.

Pants, but Nin mostly wears loose clothing because he doesn’t like tight clothing all that much, so he actually does like skirts. He doesn’t wear them often though.

And definitely no heels haha

I’ve been tagged by @luinquesse and @hobbithase :D Thanks so much!! There’s probably dozens I could name if I thought about it long enough xD I’m going to pick a few from books, movies, and games, but they’re ranked in no particular order!

1. Kyoko Karasuma (Kyoko Karasuma - Detective of the Asakusa Police Department / Karasuma Kyōko no Jikenbo)

Not technically a novel, but a manga, so it counts! Also probably my favourite manga series of all times. That level of good that I now have way too high standards when it comes to finding a new series because sadly this one’s complete xD It’s this really weird mix of detective story, horror mystery, a little bit of sci-fi dystopia, and Japanese folklore that I just really loved. And Kyoko was such a badass protagonist, but not stone-cold either. I love her a lot.

2. Arlen (The Painted Man)

The Painted Man was the novel that wanted me to become a fantasy author as well one day. Really all of its protagonists are wonderful and have really tragic backgrounds, but Arlen has a special place in my heart because he’s the first of them that you meet and you get to know the world through his eyes - and it’s such a dark world, but so good.

4. Haldir (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers)

5. Zevran Arainai (Dragon Age: Origins)

6. Daud (Dishonored)

7. Dorian Pavus (Dragon Age: Inquisition)

8. Kaidan Alenko (Mass Effect series)

9. Atlas (Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea)

10. Lucien Lachance (The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion)

There is a worrying amount of blond elves and assassins here xD With the exception of maybe Haldir, who is a cinnamon roll (even if a snarky one), what I love about these characters is how none of them is 100% good and pure and free of any “problematic” things in their past. Some more, some less xD But even the antagonists like Nuada, Atlas, Daud, and even Lucien are just really really good characters and antagonists, because they have their agenda and reasons and aaahhh I love them so much.

There’s so many more I would have wanted to add, from Mass Effect and Dragon Age alone (Aveline, Tali, Flemeth, Miranda, Josie, Javik, EDI, there’s so many) and also from the other franchises pictures, and even more beyond that. But yes, those were the first that came to my mind xD

🐢 for a mental health headcanon 

After Trespasser, Xalynir gets a bit down due to the events that happened - too quick to process at the time. The following few months, he seeks the presence and help of his family to rebuild himself and get some self-confidence back. Thankfully, his family is with him every step of the way and he gets back to his good ol’ self (almost).

🍯 A food headcanon:

Laryn is a bit of a picky eater, in particular he doesn’t like very salty and otherwise strongly flavoured foods like fish and certain stews. Give the boy his steamed vegetables though and he is happy.

🍬 A family headcanon:

Laryn lost his parents when he was rather young during one of the most severe and traumatizing attacks the clan had to endure in its recent history. His father was a hunter, his mother the clan’s Hahren and storyteller. Since that day Keeper Deshanna was something like a surrogate mother for him, but he actually feels really guilty for slowly forgetting how his real parents looked like.

💕 A love headcanon:

16. What makes their stomach turn? 

The most obvious answer is darkspawn, not only because they’re generally Gross but also because his personal baggage re: encountering them in the past. The first time he saw them while on Inquisition was on the Storm Coast and it was almost enough to make him turn back to Haven then and there, damn the rifts.

A less serious answer is spiders. He doesn’t like spiders, especially the really big crawly ones. The eyes. The sound their legs make against the ground. Their webs. They travel in packs. No thanks. Not today.

17. Are they easily embarrassed?

Haha, nope.

Or, well, mostly nope. If he’s embarrassed about something like a mistake he made, it tends to manifest more as frustration. He’s not really the kind to get red in the face, which is part of why he’s so good at taking Sera’s shenanigans on the chin. 

40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

Quite. He’s aware of them enough to keep a handle on them, especially as he becomes a more public figure; this is largely because he knows exactly how they can be used against him, how they can be used to twist his actions. Being a mage adds another layer to that, since some of his worse traits might attract unwanted attention from the Other Side if he gives in to them too much.
