To remember, these days
ok so I CANNOT be normal about this thank you
(screenshot from his and Zarina Diyas' Talk Over Tennis video on Insta)
what the fuck did you just say to me
the state of quad-jumping is fascinating bc there seems to be a weird pattern where you have to sacrifice one more common quad to do one less common quad. daniel grassl, one of the few skaters who can do a 4Lo, has never done a 4T in competition. shun sato, the only current japanese skater with a 4Lz, hasn't attempted a 4S since he was 16 years old. nikolaj memola can do both a 4F and a 4Lz, but not a 4T or a 4S. out of everyone who has done a 4Lo in the past two years (excluding russians), only ilia can also do a 4F. the average number of different quads someone at the top level can jump somehow evens out to about two either way. it's just that sometimes we have the gogolevs, who can jump 4T and 4S, and sometimes we have the memolas, who can jump 4F and 4Lz. quadg0d georg, who can jump all six different types of quads, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

2026 Grand Prix Assignments (as of June 16)
Hi ISU officials please name a single trans women currently competing at any country’s national level or at the international level okay now let’s name women skaters that have been sexually harassed, assaulted, or raped and skaters that have come out to speak about abuse from their coach’s. Okay now let’s compare those lists and decide what’s the real problem in this sport regarding female athletes wellbeing.

im at a loss for words really
^Well THIS has really really serious meme potential somehow... :S
Hey figure skating folks, writing research question:
Scenario: two skaters from the same national team are competing at a senior-level elite event (I'm thinking a Grand Prix event, specifically). They're there alone because their coach couldn't come.
If they wanted to hang out backstage for moral support, and especially keep each other company in K&C, would that be allowed?
(The skaters in question are different genders, and so wouldn't be competing in the same groups/on the same days. ETA: They are both from the same nation, and are the only 2 singles skaters from their country at this event.)
What was stars on ice even about?
it's pride month. have some amber textposts to celebrate

Thoughts:
If Shae-Lynn could choreograph two programs with the same theme but performing in completely opposite styles for them
~~~Imagining dueling Swan Lake programs with Misha as the black swan and Ilia as the white swan, both choreographed by SLB~~~
