Feet scuffed on the porch floor and eyes flickered from the well - worn wood of the floor to the doorframe , brim of his hat in hand . He let out a heavy breath and murmured ,

“ … I know . ”

He felt shunted out , a pet asking to come in after being set outside for his wrongdoings . But he held no heated feelings against Alastor for his state , the consequences of his actions here to stay . He would do what he needed to , for Alastors sake . He wanted to make things right . Finally looking up to meet his eyes and forcing an easygoing smile onto his face , he stepped forward , hoping to come in as he spoke up ,

“ Would you like to talk over a drink maybe ? I … I was thinking we could discuss things further . Or maybe just — enjoy each others company . Either one . ”

He's humming to the tune of‘ Carry on Wayward Son ’ with an angular paintbrush in hand , perched on a tall stool in the middle of the overarching room . His tongue sticking out ever so slightly with a squint to his eyes as he makes another small strokes of warm off - white along the linen canvas , completely focused on the subject at hand and getting those minute details down . Beyond the portrait lays a clone of him lounging on a velvet red couch , bared and draped in nothing but gold silken sheets at the hip .

To say that you're a calm person is an understatement. you rarely get upset, but when you do, you can be unpredictable and unhesitating. you are a quite relaxed, easygoing, and humourous person. to you, loving is like breathing. this means that you are accustomed to giving love and it comes naturally to you, although receiving love may be more difficult. also, you know that the path you will take in life isn't always going to be clear, and you're content with straying from a prescribed path.

He had been sort of out of it when the other approached him , and it took him a second to register the words out of his mouth . But all at once with a blink , a buzz of nervous excitement spread through his chest , and a grin split across his face . He was putting a hand on his shoulder with glimmering eyes ,

“ You're inviting me out for a Spa day ?? It's been — well , forever ! A - are we going now ? Should I dress differently ? ”

I've been thinking about the difference between Cherubim and Archangels recently , and how Lucifer is never referred to as an Archangel in text . Some texts even bring him up as a Seraphim , the highest of ranks . It has me wondering , is it correct to refer to him as an Archangel in any sense ? At the end of the day , their rank in the hierarchy and their power doesn't fully do Lucifer justice .

I think from now on I'll only refer to Lucifers former rank in heaven as Cherubim , although how that affects his relationship with his brothers could change things . It would make him higher ranking , although his role would be highly different . Unlike Archangels who often act as commanders and important messengers , Cherubim guard sacred places and act as divine attendants . His brothers would be more traversed in combat and executing divine missions , while he'd be focused on protection , carrier of divine presence , spreading the holy word , and generally embodying holy justice and mercy . They're both protectors , but I feel like the clear difference is that Cherubim are more about words and verbal judgement than direct action . There's a lot of intricacies to their relationship to explore !
