Good afternoon morning
Vox's whole body tensed at the sight of the mortal swaying when the latter firstly attempted to get on his feet, making it obvious how hard he had fought himself to resist the urge to rush forward and help the other up. Before their fallout, he wouldn't have hesitated, but right now he had no idea of where they stood with each other, despite the help and energy Alastor had willingly offered to him earlier.
He couldn't stop himself from thinking that his touch would have been unwelcome, even in the more impersonal form of a cable, and he didn't want to risk making things ever more sour and difficult between them than they already were.
So, he merely stood in his spot, almost frozen, as the radio host carefully made his way towards him, surveying their surroundings and the work the Media Overlord had done while the human had been sleeping. The man seemed somewhat satisfied with the results he had obtained and that knowledge allowed the TV demon to relax, even if just slightly.
"I'm..." He started to say, but he instantly cut himself off, even before he could decide how much to downplay his current state, when the mortal made to reach out for his face.
Vox's breath audibly hitched, as he eagerly waited for the contact, only for him to feel like an idiot when it never came. Alastor was tired, probably a little disoriented and with his mind caught in a haze now that the adrenaline rush had faded, but that didn't change anything of what had passed between them. He didn't deserve the human's touch and affection, he didn't deserve the soothing relief that those fingers could have gifted him with the lightest caress.
After how much he had hurt his now former lover, it shouldn't be surprised if the man had decided to never lie a kind hand on him again.
"...I'm managing. It's nothing I can't deal with," Vox finished, even if, deep down, he knew that it wasn't that simple. He had no idea of how long the cracks on his body and the bruises on his soul would have taken to repair themselves, especially since he wasn't surrounded by Hell's natural power and magic.
Yet, he would have handle it, one way or the other. Even if the radio host had decided to turn his threat into a reality and to keep him captive there, enslaving him for his blood.
Mismatched eyes followed that nimble finger as it collected some of the blood, bringing it to those thin, soft lips, before a pink tongue showed up to lap at it. The Overlord felt his too pale cheeks grew warm, even if he couldn't have said if it was because of the small action or if it was Alastor's light scolding to spark embarrassment inside him.
"Uh, I...sorry, I didn't know when you were going to wake up and...I sort of got caught up in the...y'know." He rubbed the back of his neck, using it as an excuse to glance away from his companion. "Hunger and bloodthirst?"
He usually had a much better self-control and almost never went on rampages, not unless he was driven out of his mind by rage, but this time the need for substance had overridden the rational part of his brain, leaving the monster and the animal in control.
Clearing his throat, Vox set the rag he had brought with him along with the bowl of water on the table. Cleaning up would have to wait. The food was basically ready and Alastor was obviously hungry, so he should take care of his mortal first and foremost. Then he would turn his energy back on fixing the cabin.
...After he had taken a shower, because apparently the cheeky motherfucker thought that he desperately needed one. On one hand, that was a little insulting, because Vox didn't think he smelled that bad, but on the other he could see the tentative olive branch hidden in the offer, so he knew better than not to welcome it.
"Ha, yeah, I guess I should clean up myself a little. I'm covered in...well, everything." Dirt, blood, leaves, mud. Not to mention that his clothes were beyond saving. "So...Thank you. Let's just...you can eat in the kitchen while I shower? The soup is basically ready, I was just waiting for it to thicken up a little."
He waved a hard towards the next room, awkwardly trying to prompt Alastor to head in first, before slowly following after him, keeping a careful distance.
"Sit. I'll get you a plate and then I'll get out of your hair. I'll be quick with that shower, but you take your time, once I'm done I'll go back...dealing with the mess."
He was still walking over eggshells. He could hear it in his voice. See it in his not-entirely-human expressions. Vox wasn't so hard to read when he had a face of his own instead of a screen. Regardless of how broken it had become.
Alastor said nothing at first, his hazel gaze much softer now unmasked by rage. He'd fold his broken specs and place them in his breast pocket, eyes too delicate to be those of a cold and ruthless killer. Eyes that looked far too tired to be the same as his demons.
"Yes I'm sure. You must know my wrath quite well. A tree I suppose is little to the many untold horrors you have yet to regal me about your many encounters with him." A try at either mockery or an attempt to brush off their incident, he wasn't quite sure yet.
At the mention of the mess, Alastor simply shrugged. "I've seen worse carnage. It's fine. No harm done. I trust in your methods to keep me out of sight. So long as we have no more uninvited guess, there is no concern on the matter. Besides. You must've famished." The mortal tipped his head, his pointed nose to the sky as he spoke.
"I of all men in the world know such a craving." Another sniff through the air and the radio host cringed visibly. "Take what you must of my robes and garbs. You frame is larger than mine, but i'm sure you'll find something fitting."
Alastor thought he had settled his anger. He had thought by now after what had happened this evening that he had recovered some spec of his calm indifferent facade. But the bastard had to keep talking. Alastor gripped his fists into tight curled balls at his sides, his left eye twitching in that irate way of his he had for a century in Hell.
"I only do this because I don't need you muddling about half indecent. Mind you, this is a delicate mercy easily fractured if you choose to irritate me." He huffed. "There is an ocean of my fury that you have yet to cross. And you must if to know any sort of companionship here with me. I hope you understand that." The sharp gaze said it all.
Calming himself before he spat a venom that could not be contained, he eased his scuffed and tattered lapels before nodding in acknowledgment and moving slowly to the kitchen. The last thing he needed was to keel over and he still felt far too light-headed than he liked. For now he'd have to be mindful, try not to be too upset....
"I'm starved..." Al admitted finally, squinting hard as he lumbered aimlessly towards what he hoped was the kitchen door. He could hardly see without his glasses and his sight was far too poor to make things out as clearly as he wished. For now he'd trust his nose, footfall staggering towards the source of that delicious scent.
The brunette would eventually make his way in, settling unceremoniously in the nearest chair by the table before his weakened knees gave out on him. He may have been in his early thirties sure, but he was already feeling the joint pain in his left knee that his mother before him suffered from many a time. Perhaps the stress brought it on...
"I would normally use my magic to bring me my food if I was ever too ill or tired to get it myself." The human mused. He'd put his hand out but only a small green flame sputtered then died in his palm. A scowled. "But as you may have come to realize. I may need to take some time before using my power again. If only to recharge myself to full."
There was a beat of silence before he curled a hand through his messy dangling curls. Lashes fluttered. "You needn't do it all now. Shower, clothes yourself and eat more if you must. I but ask for the wall there to be somewhat repaired. Then you should rest as well. No point in trying to heal if you don't let your body do so, yes? Surely even yours must need time to mend. Being a demon and what not." He waved his hand limply.
"For as how furious I may be. I did not call off the tree for the fun of it." Alastor chuckled hollowly as waited for his meal. "My act of somewhat kindness will mean very little if you but die of exhaustion now. If that is something that can even happen to a creature like you. Nonetheless, I demand it. And you shan't go against my will if you will be here as my servant, hmm~?"
"Now go. Bathe and leave me to my supper lest you begin attracting the flies more than the dead bodies buried under the floorboards."
vincent yaps
after a very long time away the shadows have taken on a cyan hue again and are staring at alastor with a wide grin. looks like the shade's finally made his way back to this world, and his mortal self.
( static says hi~! )
"Well well well~!"
The little brunette clapped his hands with excitement. "Tis been quite the while since I last had the pleasure of playing your host. It's so very nice to see you again, my friend." Alastor gave his best showman bow, elegantly bending to the hip with extraordinary ease while brushing the air with a hand extended out in greeting.
"You had me worrying you'd never return to my side of the universe." He teased as he stood up straight again.

"oh, i'm sure you do, darling. we've killed many men for far less before."
"Perhaps I need naught a reason for my killings at all. I just find it entertaining~"
Cue the stag snapping an electric, handheld fan into existence, aiming it straight for the shorter male, cold air ruffling curly locks.
"Better~?"
Al sighed in relief as he lent his face closer, humming while cool air wiggled his dark curled locks about. Oh my, this felt amazing.
"Mhmm, so much better darling. I thank you~"
he sees you
"I'd kill a man for a fan." He fans himself in vain, tugging weakly at his open collar.
"I mean that."

In some ways, Vox could tell that Alastor was not especially pleased with him. It would probably behoove him to exhibit a little more humility, but that was not something of which he was capable. Alastor knew he was powerful, as much as he knew he was also posturing, and that was good enough for Vox. A couple backhanded compliments weren’t enough to keep him from finding and latching onto the more genuine ones.
“Oh, come on, Al—can I call you Al?—you’re a smart guy,” he said. “I think you know exactly what kind of audience I mean. But if you really want me to spell it out for you…”
He pointed one long claw down at the floor. Really, Hell wasn’t ‘down,’ but that was how most mortals understood it. “You know as well as anyone where you’re going to end up. I can help you get a headstart on your fanbase down there. I know a thing or two about the entertainment industry.” There, there was his humility, obscuring the fact that he basically was Hell’s entertainment industry.
“Right now, only certain people can hear you down there, including me. But there are billions of souls who would just…” He paused, then smiled at his own pun. “…eat you up. I could give you all the tools you need.”
Alastor's left eye twitched with annoyance at the forced nickname.
Oh yes, he hated him already. But he couldn't deny he was right all the same. He knew exactly where he was going once he finally shed his mortal coil. With all the piles of bodies he's racked up? It only made sense. "And you know every gory detail of whom I may be? However did you come by all this information hmm? I can attest, I would never do so willingly."
"You wish to make a deal."
Alastor it said simply, ignoring all his pretty ramblings to coax his hand in bonding. No. He could figure out was a dog wanted if it stared at a piece of steak for too long on a dinner plate. The hunger in Vox's eyes was insatiable. "Well you do drive a hard bargain, my fine fellow. I must say, it does sound quite nice. This power you seem all too willing to just bestow upon me! First meeting and all."
"And what if I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request, hmm~?" The little shit would cock his head to the side with a gleeful and utterly mischievous smile.
"What then? I can only wonder, just how many times you may have rehearsed this moment, how dreadfully desperate you must be to call upon me here and no with yet so much detail about myself. I get the feeling you've done this before..."
"And failed miserably~"
[📻] He had to admit that he was amused how similarly they both seemed to think. The want to use Charlie, the need to manipulate. Though, he shouldn't be surprised. After all, this was him. As young as this self might be, with little knowledge of Hell itself, they shared similar ideas and characteristics. It was only natural that these things should surface to show just how alike they truly are.
Alastor nods with a hum, "Yes, I would be interested in hearing exactly what Vox had planned to do with you. You -- We -- are not entirely his favorite person. Not in a typical sense, anyway..." He did not want to think about the obsession that Vox had with him or the extent in which it went. The man was vile and disgusting, and had only grown more in those categories as the years went on. To think they had been on a similar playing field for a time. How ridiculous.
"So why don't you tell me what you've learned from your time with Vox. What sort of plans did he have for you?" He raises a brow, "I hope it was more than to simply try and torment me. He should know better than that. Or perhaps he was hoping a deal made between the two of you would somehow effect me..." He thought for a moment, unsure if that would actually work. This wasn't a typical occurrence so he wasn't sure of the answer. To have a past version of himself make deals, one who was attached to Rosie no less.
He would have to be careful not to be trapped again should Rosie realize his past self was here, just in case she attempted some sort of deal that would seal his fate. He refused to be bound to her any longer. Not when she had broken her promise and only saw him as a pet. He was no one's pet!
The younger man hummed and strode around the demons quarters with curiosity. Of course he was still listening, but the boys gaze lingered upon the mimic of their home. Listening carefully to how the crickets chirped or the sprites of light that lingered in the air in just the same ways that the fireflies danced back home. The brunette would carefully walk through the swamp till he came to the nearest cypress tree.
Hesitantly, as if he was afraid that if he put his hand upon it, he'd reach out and brush his palm against the bark of the old sentinel. Surprisingly enough, his hand didn't go through the wood. The elder Alastor would notice how the man's shoulders visibly released their tension. He's eyes the canopy above before softly caressing the side of the bark, his eyes growing soft. If there was anything he loved. It was his home. His bayou. It held a special place in his heart the same way their mother did.
"You miss home, don't you?" The younger man asked quietly, almost forgetting entirely that the demon asked him a question.
He let the question simmer for a moment before finally he'd retract his hand from the tree and swallowed down his longing to go back home. "Vox. Yes...Forgive my wondering mind." The smaller radio hose would give a faint bow of his head in an apology. When he rose again, he'd keep his gaze at bay from the burning stare before him. He'd fix what was left of his tie before speaking again, his voice more quiet, more hushed as if still weary that the Media Demon would still be listening in to them now, even when apart of him new he could not.
"He made to mold me into his partner, seeing as the one he has now has rejected him time and time again." Alastor tsked in disappointment. "His obsession for us knows no bounds. Tis easy to exploit him however knowing such weakness at least. I am not proud of the things I had to do to sway him to take me outside. But my methods of manipulation worked regardless." Alastor shrugged. "He wanted to make a deal with me, yes. But I already have a working contract with our Mistress...Though we are in the middle of arrangements, I have yet to solidify our deal with our Lady. Such knowledge I had never revealed to him, thus why he seemed adamant he become my patron."
Never help a boomer, trust me!
The smile that Alastor's reaction elicits--even if it's just gritted teeth and not the agonized scream that he was half-hoping to hear-- is nothing short of sharp and predatory as he stalks closer, wires whipping around him as he leers. "I can handle it when it's not being said by smarmy little weaklings who think they're hot shit just because they can summon a demon into their house," he drawls out, bringing a claw out to try and snag Alastor's chin and jerk his head upwards. "And I don't know, I'm not the one being strung up like a fucking prize turkey. All that fucking big talk, and yet you can't do shit against me without help from your creepy little voodoo shit, can you?" A pleased little rumble of static. "At least I got my powers the old-fashioned way, Al. At least I'm not the one on a fucking leash."
(Yes, he had in fact been paying attention when Alastor had said he'd broken another chain of his. It's anybody's guess who the fuck the Radio Demon's benefactor could be, but he's putting his money on that creepy old bitch from Cannibal Town that he always hangs around.)
He is expecting Alastor to do something in retaliation. He's not expecting the borderline painful way he's pushed out of the human's mind, and though he's careful to contain his reaction to an ever so slight jolt of electricity that runs through his frame, on the inside he's left reeling from it. No mere human has been able to resist his hypnosis powers before, Sinner or otherwise. Whoever the fuck is bolstering Alastor's power right now must have some powerful magic on their side, to be able to push him out so easily. He'd almost be impressed if it was anybody other than his archnemesis doing it.
Oh, the creepy shadow puppet thing. Boo. Here he was thinking that Alastor might actually have something creative to throw at him for a change. He shows an almost concerning lack of a reaction as the thing slinks closer to his feet, speaking up in a drawl that's as casual as if he was discussing the weather. "Oh, yeah, the creepy shadow fucker, I know all about him. See, that thing about not underestimating you can be turned on its head for me too, because the demon version of you? We've been doing this same fucking song and dance for almost a century now. Which means--"
He lets the thing tug him down. Lets Alastor believe he's had his moment of victory. And then he lets the electricity course through his body so strongly that it's almost blinding, lighting up his whole frame as he reaches down with a free hand to burn the little fucker back into nothingness.
"--I know all your fucking moves."
And from there, he's dissolving into electricity and zapping all around Alastor, never quite fully reforming in any one place. The message is clear--try to hit something if you can't even see where it's coming from, asshole--and his blood sings as he waits for an opening, waits for the human to get distracted trying to keep track of him for long enough that he can sneak in at his side or behind him and swipe out with his claws to tear at whatever ounce of flesh is within reach.
Not nearly enough to kill the little bastard, oh no. But it'll leave a pretty little scar, perhaps, and serve as a warning.
I'm not one to be underestimated either.
So he knew? Of course he did. He could imagine a man so obsessed with him like this stubborn fellow would go out of his way to figure something like that out. But a part of him wondered just how much his knowledge went. What more did he know? What didn't he know? Either way he had no desire to help him progress on his curiosities.
That would spoil the fun now wouldn't it.
Alastor sneered all the same at the implications, his eyes narrowing and his smirk turning sharp. He really did detest when nosy people got in his way.
But that could wait for later. Right now, he was too busy giving his best smug grin as he watched the demon stumble back from the forced push out of his mind. He cocked his head and batted his lashes innocently. Poor soul. That mustn't happen often. Then again, there was nothing like that woman's power he had ever seen. Nasty work, really.
But there was a problem with fighting a man who knew you better for decades. A problem he did not see coming until it was too late. An issue he only realized in his prideful stupor when the burning blinding light of the Overlord's electricity burned at his retinas and he was forced to put his arm up over his eyes to shield them from the light: Vox did know all his fucking moves. Everything he knew he was going to do was but an old song and dance to this too tall bastard. And that was quite the predicament. He might've only just met the man, but he? He had known him for longer than he had ever been alive. He was at quite the daunting disadvantage here.
Alastor hissed and looked away, the flash of light too much for him and his shadow alike. The poor beast would howl at the painful beams, its shadowy form wailing and withering in the light. Al could hear its agony, but before he could even fathom of yanking the creature back to him, cyan talons would tear him familiar apart back into nothing, leaving him defenseless yet again. By the time the mortal got his bearing the monster had return back to it's shade beneath him, unable to continue in his stead. 'God dammit...' He muttered in his head.
Oh no.
The brunette's smug grin faltered, well aware he was now up shit creek without a paddle. There was no real way to fight him. His bag of tricks weren't going to be able to sway a man who already knew all of them. This was bad. His first thought was to escape, to teleport through his shadow, but the wounded thing would not stir no matter how many times he dated his hazel gaze pleadingly down towards it. No response, not even a hiss of distraught. He was truly in it on his own now.
Vox danced around him in jolts of light and cackles. The mortal made to dodge but couldn't keep an eye on the media demons next move. He was too slow. A mortal could not keep up with something no supernatural. Chocolate eyes widened as he felt the hair on his neck stand on end then from behind him. His reaction time was too slow regardless of he felt the sudden spike in static. Alastor turned around just in time to see Vox's wicked grin and before he could even try to jump out of the way he felt it. A hot searing agonizing pain shooting up his side as sharp azure claws came in contact with his sensitive flesh. Alastor cried out and pulled away at the razor blades tearing through his skin and clothes. He his the ground in a shout, his form withering as he held onto his bleeding torso.
Long stretches of blotched red could be seen pouring through the radio hosts fingers from his side, his palm drenched in his own blood as he crawled in vain to get away. Dark curls dangled over shut tight eyes as his head hung, forehead touching the ground as he withered in his agony. A shaky whimper left his bloodied lips, breath heaving painfully from his longs. Glasses...where-where did his spectacles go? Somewhere in the chaos they had clattered off his face, spinning forwards till they skidded through Alastor's blood to rest with a 'thump' against Vox's boot.
Panting breathlessly, the wounded mortal would drag himself to the edge of the nearby wall, an echo of his future self who'd drag himself from the very same man. Everything always seemed to repeat itself in one way or another.
Alastor would glare at his attack with a furious death stare, eyes wrathful from under a curtain of messy loop locked stands.
"And y'wonder why I w-would never join y-...you~"
Still a little shit even bleeding out on the floor.

[📻] His ears flicked with annoyance, one eye twitching ever so slightly as the mortal seemed to find this situation amusing. Of course he would never understand the reasoning as to why he was here at this silly little hotel. Alastor had no intention of telling him either. Even if this was a version of himself, he had a lack of trust towards him. Especially after the little mortal had been with Vox for a small period of time. He was not about to unveil his plans only to have someone snatch him up and pull them from him. Not to mention he would not allow himself to be manipulated by a version of himself with the truth of everything.
No, this matter required a certain amount of care.
"I do not believe in redemption," he admits without hesitation, "But I am here because I enjoy watching sinners try and fail. It is a great source of entertainment!" He chuckles, the shadow joining in with some silent laughter as well. Alastor did not think that would satisfy the human completely. After all, he was him and there was always something underlying to their methods. "Miss Morningstar is the Princess of Hell. She is someone I would find useful should I need her in the future. That is why I am here."
Not a complete lie, but certainly not the truth either. Still, he hoped it would be satisfactory enough.
"And yes, the King of Hell himself is here, mainly to try and gain favor with his daughter. They do not have the best relationship, absent father and all that," he chuckles to himself, amused by how hard Lucifer seemed to try to gain Charlie's favor. It really was pathetic. He could only imagine how uncomfortable he must feel in this place with all these sinners. Beings he had been ignoring for eons only to have his daughter find connection with them. It must truly eat the man alive!
He looks down at his staff, playing with the top of it as he hummed softly. "I suppose we will have to be careful what we feed you. I'm not sure demon flesh is good for a human," he states quietly, "I have plenty of deer here in my bayou that we can prepare your meals from. That should suffice until we can return you home." Hopefully they could return him home. Alastor would need to do some digging to see what exactly Vox had done to get his hands on him in the first place.
Oh the little ear flick, too cute~
Now that made far more sense to him. They found enjoyment in another mans suffering, that much was true. To him, the idea of a demon finding salvation in hell truly did sound entertaining. And if he found it funny even just a little bit, he would of course stay to see how it played out. Yes. He could believe that at least. "You are such a cruel man, darling. Yes, we haven't truly changed that much in death, I see. Save for the ears of course." But the mortal would give a nod, easing up in his mirthful teasing. "Very well. I suppose we are not the mascot~"
"Lucifer has a daughter. Now I've heard everything. Though knowing he's a horrible father sounds about right when your own casts you out of Heaven. Seems to run in the family. Poor little Miss." Yes, he too knew a thing about a bad father. But the little lady can't say she hacked her own flesh and blood with an axe to the face like he could. "You should play the part of the better father to win her trust. Assuming you haven't already been doing so~" The fact that he came to that conclusion first said must of how their minds worked alike. "I'm sure she's quite easy to move in place with the right words of comfort. So manipulative, darling~" He purred proudly.
The thought of eating demon made him grimace. It no doubt was great for his demon to splurge on but he could already feel his stomach flip at the idea of digesting it with his meek mortal body. His appetite quivered at the thought. "I can't imagine it's a good source of caloric intake, no." Came the humans enthused rebuttal. Oh yes, deer sounded far better. However did he accomplish bringing deer from the living world? He had no idea. "Venison will be just fine. I've survived many a week purely on my hunts before. Human or otherwise."
"I shall be fine." Al assured with a faint shrug of his slender shoulders. "In return of your safe refuge, I can give you whatever knowledge I learned in that picture box's grasp. I'm sure it will be valuable information for your interests."
Alastor's anger and disapproval weren't lost on Vox. He noticed every spark of them and filed it away, to add it to the already roaring fire that had been openly fuelling his self-loathing since the night of his disastrous defeat.
As much as he hated it, he couldn't say that he was surprised to see that the human didn't believe him. How could he when the demon's actions had mostly told a different story from the one his words were trying to spin? The urge to argue against the irate silence built on his tongue, but he swallowed it down, just as the mortal had done with his freshly mounting rage.
This wasn't the time for another fight. There was so much to do and they were both drained down to their bones.
So, he forced himself to let it go, just as he ignored the sarcastic jab that followed. On top of everything, it was all very much deserved, so he should have stood there and bore it in any case.
All Alastor got from him was the wave of hand, dismissing the concerned objection the radio host had brought up and the twitch of digital lips as the Media Overlord heard his old name rolling on his companion's tongue. Oh, he had been looking forward to hear how it would have sounded, even if in his fantasies it would have been spoken in much more pleasurable situations.
"Sleep well, Al," he murmured, waiting for the human to have properly lied down before focusing on his steps once again.
Keeping his balance as he made it back towards the centre of the destroyed living room took a lot of efforts and concentration, but he managed it, his teeth gritting in agony just a few times. He could do this. He had to.
What was physical pain when you knew how it felt like living with a bleeding soul?
---
By the time Alastor came back to his senses, the night had fallen and, if there had been a clock in sight, it would have shown that it was already well past midnight. The TV demon had worked quietly, careful not to wake the tired mortal, in spite of the extra effort and pain that had cost him. His own suffering didn't matter if it meant allowing the radio host to get the rest he needed.
A blanket had been laid over the mortal at some point, warm and soft, to keep the chill of the late hours from disturbing his slumber.
All the debris had been cleared from the destroyed living room, leaving an empty, clean space and a ruined but patched up floor. The salvageable pieces of furniture had been moved against the surviving walls, along with all the objects that hadn't been destroyed beyond repair. Everything else had been piled in the yard, ready to be disposed of.
The gaps in the walls and ceiling were still there, but they had been temporarily covered with large, thick sheets of plastic, so that the inside of the cabin would no longer be openly exposed to the elements.
The table Alastor had used as a shield when the cypress had slummed into the building had been returned to its proper position, the once smooth surface now ruined by scratches and splinters. Yet, in that moment they were hardly visible as its surface was fully occupied by the spoils of a very peculiar banquet.
Blood was splattered all over it, some of the red lymph having dripped down on the floor. On top of it laid what looked like human remains, or rather bones, enough to form two skeletons. They were perfectly stripped of whatever flesh had once covered them, shark teeth marks indenting their surface. Among them, a car battery, torn open by claw marks and fully drained, not a single spark emitting from it.
The metallic scent of blood still lingered in the air, betraying how the carnage was pretty recent, but it wasn't the only smell filling the room. From the kitchen very different ones came, a mixture of cooked meat and a hearty mixture of vegetable. Someone was obviously in the middle of cooking in the next room.
Almost on cue, Vox stepped back into the living room, carrying a bowl of water and a rug, obviously meant to clean up the mess he had made on the table. He had used the ring to shift into his human form, merely because it was more practical when it came to handle the kitchenware, which were far too small for his demonic size. In his mouth, filled with cyan sharp teeth that didn't belong on a human body, hang the half of a humerus that was slowly being chewed.
Even through the magical disguise, however, the damage his body was sporting was still visible. His heterochromatic eyes were bloodshot, dark and deep bags surrounding them, and there were dark marks running over the too pale skin of his face, mimicking the cracks that still decorated his screen. He was barefoot, his shoes discarded in the hall, and still shirtless, makeshift bandages wrapped around his torso, forearms and neck, lightly stained with silvery blood.
The Media Overlord froze as his gaze landed on the now awake human, eyes widening for a split second, causing him to look very much like a deer in the headlights. Oh, the irony.
"...Oh, uh, hey, Al. How...How are you feeling?" He hesitantly asked, shifting his weight on his feet, obviously torn on what he should have done.
He wanted to approach the radio host and help him up, but he was afraid that the closeness would have been unwelcome. So, in the end, he just cleared his throat and set the bowl down on the dirty table.
"Ha, sorry about the...mess." He vaguely gestured at the blood and bones. "I...I got really fucking hungry and...I didn't want to, uh, devour your stash, so I went out on a quick hunt. Don't worry, I left no traces. Not my first murder in the living world, if you catch my drift."
He flashed a shaky, weirdly digital grin at the mortal, before focusing on starting to collect the bones.
"There's...I thought you might be hungry too, so I...made dinner. Or well, shit, more like a midnight snack at this point. It's Brunswick stew, this soup they make in Virginia. I had to alter the recipe a little and work with what you had, but...it should be edible."
Sleep had surprisingly come fairly easy for the young radio host that night. He wasn't sure if it was because of his fatigue from being drained of his magical essence or the fact that the argument before that had taken a toll on his person as well.
Either way it hadn't taken very long for the young brunette to slip from consciousness. The moment he had settled down and closed his eyes, he was out like a light, breathing softly in and out, his lips parted ever so slightly with his glasses close to his palm.
As the younger version of his rival slept, the small heap of a man never stirred, even when a blanket was carefully draped over his petite frame. The tiny mortal would huddle deeper into it's warmth, with only a softened sigh to show his satisfaction while he slept.
Hours would creep by before the brunette would slowly stir to life. He'd groan quietly, eyes fluttering with a grimace and a wince before slowly and hesitantly, hazel eyes would break from the long lashes blinking open.
For a moment the world around him was but a distant blur, then he'd blink a few more times to steady the picture around him. When the dots left his vision, Al first noticed that Vox was nowhere to be found. He'd stare around, but he wasn't here...
The next thing he noticed was the smell, something good, something new. Not his cooking sure, but the scent wafted with something delicious. Was he in the kitchen? The mortal sat up from where he slept, noticing the cozy blanket draped over his person.
Honeyed eyes would slowly scan the room before him. His cabin still had quite the hole in it but it looked well on it's way to being constructed again. Where splintered pieces of debris once laid, sat a calmly cleaned yet cracked floor in its place all around him. The man had kept his promise at least. A wonderful sign of improvement he guessed.
It would still take plenty of work to fix his darling home, but this was a good start. He had to wonder just how Vox was able to manage all of this in his wounded state...
Before he could really come to thoughts with that, his gaze would then follow the trail of blood he saw dribbling down upon his already battered floor. A caramel face followed the ruby line to its owners. Oh? Tugging the blanket off of him, he'd cock his head curiously at the leftover meal upon his table. Tch. Such a mess.
Was that a car battery? Hmm. Surprisingly, it made sense, he supposed.
But not even the courtesy to use his plates? How undignified. "Such a brutish eater." Alastor muttered under his breath as he held back his want to lick the blood up.
He felt rather famish himself and whatever it was Vox was cooking up was only making him realize just how hungry he truly was. Al hoped these were tourist. The last thing he needed were more locals going missing. It was starting to catch the eyes of unwanted guests. His pool of potential dinners was narrowing...
Just as his thoughts began to muddle, the kitchen door opened with a start. Alastor jolted upright like a frightened cat and with a glare, he'd swivel his head towards the noise of it opening. His scowl didn't last long. Instead, his brows eased, perking upwards at the display before him. Oh my...
Vox or...Virgil as he told him, looks like a right mess, even in his human disguise he had fashioned for him. His salt and pepper hair were messy and shaggy in upturned tuffs, his bare chest lined with bandages where silver patches could be seen smearing the first aid tape. In the other places bandages were tightly wrapped also fared no better.
And his eyes...
He looked so tired.
There it was again, that painful squeeze from before. That echo of something almost akin to regret. The mortals scratched knuckles turned inwards where they sat upon the somewhat cleaned floor, turning into tight fists that scraped against the wood. Alastor's gaze briefly followed the cracks in his facade, lingering over each fracture slowly.
"I'm fine." Unlike the demon, he had no hesitance to offer. With a grimace, he'd finally push himself to his feet. Albeit slowly, he was still able to stretch himself up in a stand. He would sway only once before promptly steadying himself on his feet with a shaky breath. The dizziness was still there, but he would manage.
"Better than before, anyways." Al muttered, pushing his glasses to slide back on their place upon the bridge of his nose. The blur in his vision subsiding once he did.
The brunette would dust his knees before turning to the man before him as Vox settled the bowl down between them. He was acting more awkward than usual...he could imagine why. "It's fine. This floor of mine is well acquainted with the stains." He half joked. Truly he could not count the many MANY times he ran the floor red with his latest kills. If Vox looked hard enough, he'd see ancient stains that crossed the wood from many a prize. Countless bodies had been cooked and served in this very room alone.
Happened all the time, really.
"I should be the one to ask how you fell, really. Not the other way around. What of you? Better, I'd hope?" The mortal would asked quietly, his words softer now as he took the time to look over pale cream flesh and the obvious shows of exhaustion under Virgil's eyes. Hesitatingly, Al would press forwards, stepping through the gap between them. A chocolate gaze would roam, fingers hovering over the cracks in his face...the want to touch him, to mend what he had broken intensified with the closeness...
Alastor swallowed before finally pulling back and stepping out of his personal space. What was he doing...? Tch. He'd look away then, clenching and unclenching his jaw till he'd settle with looking instead at the remains of Vox's hunt with faux interest. "Eherm...right. Well thankfully you feasts on out-of-towners. Easier to mistake their deaths with another alligator accident. Sweep it up to fools in the forest, hmm?"
Well it was nice to know the fool could cover his tracks at least. Alastor hummed in acknowledgement before leaning over to a pool of blood on the table and casually dabbing his finger in the crimson. The poor lad was hungry, he couldn't help it. He'd swipe his index finger through the puddle before bringing his stained pad to his lips with a needy whine. How long had it been since he had a cool swipe of blood on his tongue?
Alastor would lick his finger slowly, his tongue savoring the iron upon his lips. He was well aware Voxy was watching the whole thing. Ooooh, tasted like Floridians. That had a sweet taste to them~ "Mhmm, and you didn't leave me any? You dog." He purred, licking his lips like a satisfied cat once he was finished with his little sampling. Al would flash back his own demonic smile back, giving but a flash of his demon to be.
Oh? He did made him something to eat? How splendid. "I wouldn't mind trying a Virginian delicacy." He thought about his next words slowly, unsure if it was yet time to show some leniency...but he did fix his house..."In return for such a gracious meal. You may use my bathroom to shower if you wish." Alastor gestured to the mess of splattered blood all over Vox's person.
"I can smell you more the food, darling."
