It's freeing, the ability to take a photo of Tom with a pillow held over his face, adamant that he will not be getting out of bed for at least another hour, without worrying about the implications that they share a bed.

There are benefits to his newfound hobby, for every stupid picture he captures of Ice, Slider will dig out the photo albums and give him a young Ice in return. Pete's personal favourite is the one of academy-era Ice, drinking tap water out of his hands, wearing nothing but shorts and a single sock.

He has a video of Tom, asleep in an armchair with a book in hand, snoring very loudly for a man who adamantly insists he doesn't snore.

A picture of Tom, mid-conversation with their cat. Tomcat does not seem to be listening; he looks to be seconds away from pouncing on Tom's hand. The fear healthy of the Admiral escapes the ginger; it may never escape Pete.

There are several cheek kiss photos, something neither of them will tire of.

A stray photo of the frigid Iceman wearing bunny slippers that Slider got him for Christmas because the assholity aspect of their friendship has yet to wear off, and Pete cannot stop himself from smiling whenever he thinks about it.

It isn't until he borrows Ice's phone, okay, he steals it for the Sudoko game Tom has downloaded, that he finds Tom's own collection of photos.

And the most recent, an image that conveys the deeply serious reputation which Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky acquired over his years of service, Tom flipping him off as Pete stands with his back to him, making them dinner.

in highschool, he gets a crush on the first chair oboe player in band and decides that the ultimate plan to get to know her is to learn it so they can sit together.

years later:

jake: so did it work?

mav is too busy laughing to tears to answer, bradley grumbles out a no.

jake: well why not??

bradley, still grumbling: teacher made me first chair. she hated my guts.

Falling asleep on the sofa together, watching a movie while wearing bluetooth noise cancelling headphones so they can hear the movie but not the noises outside, because Bradley is a planner.

And this is the tipping point of friendly colleagues into actual friends, and now with all that animosity and antagonism gone there are smiles and back slaps and getting into each other's personal space in a friendly way rather than a threatening one.

Of course they both realise they have a crush in the same week, and the entire Dagger Squad are looking at each other and exchanging 'here we go again' looks. The mutual pining and flirting is PAINFUL.

They make bingo cards. It's a team bonding activity.
