(The casual misogyny in the treatment of parentifed characters)
If a male character adopts or takes care of a child that isn't his, he's depicted by the fandom as a saint, a father, and an amazing person. No one expects a man to take care of a child, especially one he doesn't know, so that relationship is cherished and flaunted. That character will be regarded and referred to as that child's father. You will find hundreds of fans depicting him as such. (Dean Winchester(Supernatural), Joel Miller(TLOU), Etc)
If a woman steps up and raises a child that isn't hers, she's depicted by the fandom as a big sister and just a woman. Her sacrifice, trauma (If parentifed as a child) and bond with the child are ignored and downplayed. The best examples I can think of are Maddie Buckley(911) and Jinx(Arcane). Maddie raised her baby brother Buck. It's stated explicitly in the show, she is his maternal figure. He loves her, looks up to her, and credits her for raising him (She's practically Dean but a woman) and yet her relationship with Buck is minimized by the "fans" to she's just his sister. Her role as his mother figure is literally erased in favor of another woman that Buck met in adult hood who's bossy but not nearly his mother (Athena). I've never watched Arcane but I do end up in it's fandom spaces and Jinx is only seen as Isha's sister despite being an adult woman who chose to adopt a child in every way except legally (Like Joel Miller). The sacrifice of raising a child is expected from a woman and not from a man so if a man raises a child hes a saint and if a woman raises a child she's just a woman. Stop erasing female stories.
Watching 9-1-1 as a Buck defender is so hard because what do you mean they saw Buck was struggling, talked about how they were all supporting him from afar, never bothering to actually be there for him and still got mad when he felt abandoned and sued. Bobby never even bothered to tell Buck he wasn't letting him back because he cared. Buck spelled out why he does everything he does (Because of childhood trauma) and yet they others do absolutely nothing to reassure him. Ever.
larry @his boyfriend of like five minutes: if it was physically possible i'd want you to raise my kid

Ken the albino (Aka Gene's imaginary best friend) drawn by me.
This is my Bob's burgers oc Gaylord Gennaro Frond. He is the child of Mr. Frond and Gayle
Some things about him. He's 4. He thinks he's a cat. He hisses and bites. He is an only child and he acts like it. Frond knitted his onsie.
Steven Universe Future has the most painfully accurate representation of depression I've ever seen. The way he self-isolates and pretends to be happy, he's textbook clinical depression. He's so relatable. I love him.
I noticed that Steven made a pebble by crying. Which means that they are created by the tears of Pink Diamond. She cried every one of them. Millions of them. It makes me think of exactly how miserable she was that she cried thousands of pebbles into existence.
I immediately realized why Garnet was drawn to Cat Steven. She reminds her of Saphhire.

I keep seeing people say that Amethyst is taking advantage of people by shape-shifting into their loved ones. But as I see it, she was told her entire existence is wrong, she was told she's useless, flawed, an abomination, and deformed. She was told that her whole life. She canonically has extremely low self-esteem. It's a reasonable conclusion that she doesn't view herself as loveable, attractive, or worthy. She takes the shape of people she knows they like because she knows they are worthy. I never saw her having any ill intentions with her shapeshifting. She's just doesn't think anyone would actually like her for herself.

Watching Law & order svu has made me realize why everyone in criminal minds hates the BAU, "he has mommy issues" is not probable cause and will not hold up in court. I'd hate them to.
arthur shouldve had a scene like in sinbad when he's told to disarm and he starts putting down like half the armoury....and merlin's not even using magic for this arthur just Has that many weapons with him at given moment- he's not even in armour
and he's not even hiding them?? its just that no one ever expects him to be a walking armoury, but it makes lot more sense now how arthur will occasionally just hand people whatever sharp thing they need and it's like- "why the fuck does he have a scalpel"
I think it would be better if this was Merlin and not Arthur because everyone expects Arthur to have weapons, but as far as they know Merlin has absolutely no reason to. I also think it would make more sense because Arthur knows hand to hand combat and is used to having knights and guards around who have weapons of their own to protect him. Where as Merlin only has his magic, which he can't use most of the time, so it would make more sense that he always carries some kind of weapon or weapons. Merlin would want to have multiple weapons because he would want to always be prepared to protect Arthur and himself. Also, Merlin is more unhinged, so if anyone is going to do unhinged stuff, it would be him.
I'm watching Shadow and Bone just for this little autistic gay man
