An Ace in the Hole

“Sweet! See ya, then!” He gave a grin and a wave before making his way out of the place.

After getting back home he pulled out his phone and shot a text to his new probation officer.

[Text] hey, it’s me 😸

[Text] are we meeting up on Sundays?

[Text] i just realized i need to ask you something in person.

Goro groaned when he got the texts, silently questioning why he’d agreed to be this guy’s parole officer... 

Either way, he felt like he should at least respond out of politeness if nothing else. 

“Well, hey, looks like you won’t have to give a thing.” Naoya commented, having just come into the kid’s office. Although this might not be his idea of ‘normal’ but, hey, it was something.

“I’m your new guardian!” He pointed a thumb to his chest and gave a grin.

Goro nearly fell out of his chair, Naoya’s sudden entrance taking him by surprise. He really needed to start closing his door more often... 

“Fine, fine.” He gives another snigger, clearly still amused by the situation before he sets the other boy back down on his feet.

Nosaka didn’t even bother smiling back. There was no reason to fake it. “Yes, I need help with something, if you aren’t too busy.”

“No, not at all.” Goro’s smile faded as he raised an eyebrow in confusion. What on earth could this kid need help with...? He was hoping it wasn’t anything too difficult... 

“That’s right. The comments aimed at them are usually more on the lustful or negative side.” He shrugs.

“In any case… aren’t we sort of in a predicament…?” Or rather, he was. This wasn’t the world he’d originally come from so he was basically lost.

“That’s too bad.” He frowned a little bit at that comment and shook his head. He didn’t know why he was so concerned about this, but well.... he was. 

“Eh, it’s fine.” He gives a lazy shrug. “I don’t have anything on there that I wouldn’t want people seeing.” Except maybe his metaverse app… in case they triggered it and ended up in a dangerous situation. Otherwise his phone had nothing but his friends numbers and a few games.

“Anyways, does that mean I can leave now?” He assumed he was ‘free’ at least from prison itself.

“I see.” Goro nodded a little bit and checked his own phone. He hadn’t put Naoya’s number in it yet, but he figured he’d know when he got a text from Naoya anyway. 

Goro sighed as he looked down at the file currently open on his computer. He didn’t want to be at work at the moment... in fact, he kind of didn’t want to be anything at the moment. Dealing with Shido was becoming more and more draining on his mental state, and he didn’t know how much more he could take. 

“I dunno, I kinda like holding you.” It was fun seeing the detective so flustered, honestly. “You’re cute when you’re embarrassed.” He chuckles.
