Whumpee who apologizes in a dream = Even better

Think about it for a moment. Whumpee asleep beside Caretaker, perhaps in the same bed. Caretaker wakes to the sound of some kind of dry, hiccoughing sobbing. They turn towards Whumpee and find them trapped in a restless sleep, face pale and contorted.

“…’m sorry,…” Whumpee slurs, sleep sticking to their voice.

And who are they apologizing to?

Whumper? “I’m sorry, don’t hurt me, I’ll be better?”

The whumpee falls asleep on the couch, they don't mean to, they're just so exhausted/under the weather they can't help but close their eyes for just a moment...

When the caretaker walks in and notices them, they quietly drape their coat over the whumpee, and lets them rest.

One side wants them alive, the other wants them dead. The ones who want them alive only want to use them in a bloodier war.

So, I don’t know who this is going to reach, but I hope it reaches anyone or everyone <3

I really want to meet small whump creators on here. I do obsess over a lot of whump creators who are big and somewhat popular, and I always wonder how to find smaller blogs that are lurking around like I do. As a small blog myself.

So if you’re a small whump blog and want to meet new friends, I’d love to read your stories and see what you create. Even if you don’t make anything and just reblog, that’s okay too. I really do think there are hidden gems out there that I’d love to find, but sometimes it’s hard to.

And if you interact with this post, we’ll all find each other and make more friends. At least, that’s what I’d like to think would happen.

jaw twitches; whether the character is biting back an insult or a groan of pain or, deliciously, a scream

little breath shudders; those small hitches when something is jostled, or when they can't the words out without their voice trembling from exhaustion or emotion

apologies; mumbled, under their breath, or scraping through the lungs. shoutout to "please" in a hoarse voice or from someone near tears

for androids, thick chunky cables; ports on the back of the neck where they connect, reactions of electricity visible in slightly twitching fingers or rapid blinking

shaky hands - imagine an exhausted whumpee, dragging their shaky hands across their face, through their hair, or picking up a pen, whatever (caretaker's just gotta see those tremors)

more of a magic whump thing: bleeding from frying your senses: for eye-based magic, maybe whumpee's eyes are bleeding. magic where whumpee needs to channel from their hands -- their fingers are slippery with their own blood. magic words spoken -- whumpee starts coughing up blood. etc. etc.

hypothermia - cold and tired. just like me. except i don't have hypothermia and i don't plan on getting it soon (LN2 got nothing on me trust)

"Don't sit up. You'll rip your stitches."

"You need to calm down. Your heart rate is spiking."

"Stop trying to get up. I don't want you fainting again."

"Lie back down, please. Your fever is too high for you to be moving around."

Either by themselves or with the help of another

Freaking out as they run into the night

Eventually being found by someone, that leads to the authorities being informed

The guard dog -> loyalty has been ingrained into their bones, following their handler around like their shadow. No one dares stand against the organization because of the legendary dread surrounding this living weapon. They hardly say a word but every movement is calculated, eyes always darting, always watching. (“You always were their lapdog.”)

The loose cannon -> dangerous for both sides. Always talking back and never predictable, their value is dependent on their skill. If it wasn’t for that, they’d be dead a long time ago. Their loyalty is earned, not bought. No one wants to be on their bad side, walking on tip toe whenever they show up. And they enjoy it. (“What’s everyone looking at? Aren’t you happy to see me? I even brought my rifle!”)

The broken down -> most common type of whumpee I’ve seen. They’ve been overpowered and forced into the commission. They hate their handler more than anything else but see no way out. When they’re told to shoot, they don’t even blink. It’s always “yes, sir” this and “yes, sir” that. If they feel any sympathy, they don’t show it. They’ll do anything to avoid punishment and flinch at quick movements. Nothing they face on the field is worse than the cards they’ve been dealt. (“I understand, sir/ ma’am. I-I’m sorry.”)

The dissenter -> Usually recruited into the organization or joined as a last ditch option. Not necessarily against using their abilities or skill, they just hate being told what to do. As time goes on and their disobedience is punished over and over again, they grow reluctant. Bitter. With every order, they slip in a snarky comment. Roll their eyes. Anything to assert their own identity. Or what’s left of it. (“ah ah ah, you didn’t think i’d notice? The middle finger was a bit much. I’m afraid it will have to go.”)

some tiny details that tickle the whump senses

• dark circles, bloodshot eyes

• falling asleep fully clothed, possibly with jacket and shoes still on, legs/feet hanging off the foot of the bed or sprawled half-on half-off a couch

• the “oh shit, i’m gonna faint/nevermind i’m good” face (and aborted grab for nearest solid object or person)

• a character losing their footing for a moment on rough terrain. someone reaching out to grab them so they don’t fall and they both hold on for a hot second

• closing their eyes and leaning into a gentle touch

• shaky hands, shaky voice

• falling asleep at their desk at work/tucked away in an odd place

• doing things that are out of character & having others start to notice: losing their cool, being extra chipper or extra quiet, jumpy

• zoning out

• someone getting between them and whoever they’re having a heated exchange with, gently pushing them back with a hand against their chest or shoulder
