So they play nice to the guards, try to play into their feelings. They rile Whumper up so that their eventual fate is delayed in favor of whatever punishment Whumper decides to put on them. They do every single thing that they can think of to delay the one thing they are dreading.

Maybe it works. Maybe one of the guards becomes guilty and quietly lets them go. Maybe Whumper forgets about Whumpee's eventual fate because Whumpee just pisses them off. Maybe they manage to avoid the fate all together.

Maybe it doesn't. Maybe the guards just laugh at Whumpee's face and mock them for their fear. Maybe Whumper roughly grabs them by the wrist and decides to move the schedule up. Maybe they can't avoid it and instead all Whumpee can do is scream and cry the entire way.

Or maybe something else happens.

Maybe the guards see how Whumpee appeals to them and realize what they're doing.

Maybe Whumper uncharacteristically puts a gentle hand on Whumpee's face and says "I know what you're trying to do."

Maybe Whumpee gets caught in their attempts to try and avoid their fate and everyone decides to let them avoid it.
