One more thing. During *that fight* between Vader and Obi-Wan in Part VI, when Obi-Wan begins gaining an advantage on Vader — he repeatedly struck him in the chest with the hilt-end of his lightsaber. He didn’t have to use the reverse grip though.

He could have easily easily switched from reverse grip to normal grip and it would have been deadly. He had the chance to but did make the switch in his grip.
Sure, Obi-Wan had stepped foot on that planet with the mindset that he would either be him or Vader. And yet; when it came to it, even after acknowledging that his friend is no more — that it was Vader and no longer Anakin he was fighting — he could not let himself do it. He could not bring himself to kill what once used to be his brother.
And that was also why he left the fight with alive, because even as he was walking away, even all that’s been said between them in that fight — he still inherently believes part of Anakin is inside Vader. And he has reason to think that because Obi-Wan knew it was Anakin — his friend and brother — and not Vader who told Obi-Wan that it was not his fault but Vader that Anakin fell to the dark side. Vader would have no reason to want to make Obi-Wan feel less guilty or better about himself. It was Anakin. And that was why, even when he could have ended the fight, when he could have killed Vader that Obi-Wan didn’t.
