A little bit after the season 1 timeline, like on the edge of Steve actively starting to try to become a better person and improve himself but he is still struggling with it a bit. And its very new so no one else really knows that Steve is doing that yet.

During that time period Eddie is either dared to ask Steve out or maybe Eddie choices to do it to make some kind of point. I'm not really sure. Either way at this point the assumption Eddie has is that Steve is definitely going to reject him. And at this point Eddie isnt even super into Steve because as far as hes aware thats just some asshole jock who probably called him names in the hallway.

But Steve obviously isn't going to insult him now because hes trying to be a better person. But he high-key overcompensates about it where he panicked and didnt know how to reject Eddie without coming off as an asshole again. So in his panic Steve just like, agreed to go out with him. (And Steve is actually bisexual and lowkey into Eddie but he doesn’t know that yet)

And Eddie can't just be like "oh I didn't mean it" because now HES the asshole for playing with someone's feelings.

So now its just this awkward thing where they are both confused and are kind of just like "well I guess we're dating.....???" And neither of them really know what to do with that but neither of them know how to back out of it now.

They both lowkey try to get the other one to break up with them so that they don't become the villain. Like Eddie drags Steve to his dnd games or band practice because he doesn't think Steve would at all be into any of that. Steve in the same way probably makes Eddie come to his games.

But I need y'all to know that on one of the Duffers computers...don't know which one...but while they were writing the script for season five, they had two ChatGPT tabs opened in the background. TWO! And while it's not confirmed if these ChatGPT tabs had any correlation to the writing in the show, it can be inferred with just how slop the script comes across. And I'm talking specifically on the Duffers writing, I'm not talking about any other writer that actually cares for the characters or the show.

Having other writers point out continuity errors to the Duffers faces, the actors begging for more in the writing in relation to their characters, the actors questioning if the writing is even accurate, not knowing D&D lore accurately despite the whole show opening and ending on D&D...

ChatGPT had to be used somewhere in there, if even for just the scientific theories they had Dustin spouting.

So here's what I'm doing with season five, if anybody's curious, I'm focusing on some aspects for a fic I'm currently writing. It's a long Steddie fic, but I will be rewriting the lore. Fuck it, I may even write Byler into this because it's clear that Byler was supposed to happen, but the Duffers chickened out at the last minute because they're flakey, bullshit writers. From now on, though, after this long fic, I'm only focusing on seasons one through four for writing; anything that's labelled as "post-canon" from me is post-canon season four. Season five no longer exists to me.

Anyway imagine Jonathan didn't catch Steve in time, he fell and then oh wow is that Eddie saving him? Oh my Gods is he crying into his arms cause Eddie is alive and saving him and and!

And then Steve is on the ground, his own spear through him, blood gurgling up his throat as the screams of Dustin echo in his head and the everything's black :)

He drives back home and demands Steve break things off with the Munson kid.

Steve gets pissed.

"I'm not gonna break things off, I love him!!" Steve yells before he stomps out through the door and drives away without looking back.

A few minutes later he's at the Munson's. Steve doesn't even bother with knocking, Wayne's more than used to his presence by now, so he just opens the door and go straight to Eddie's room.

"My dad thinks we are dating and demanded that I break things off with you, but I refused and told him I loved you. Do you wanna date me just to piss him off?"

Eddie, who had been stuffing his face with chips as he read some comics in his bed, shrugs. "Do I get to touch your tits?"

"They are not tits!"

"Do I get to touch them anyway?"

"I guess that's reasonable dating behavior, so yes."

They were both pricks, but they had this weird chemistry and the sex was amazing. They kept this up for months until eventually Al broke Daniel's heart and that is why he hates the Munson's so much.

Not that anyone besides he and Al ever knew anything about it, of course.

To his horror, though, Steve does show up with Al's boy. They go on dates, hold hands. Once, Daniel catches them kissing before Steve exits the boy's van and comes home. It's like Daniel's worst nightmares were coming to life in front of his eyes.

"Eddie. His name is Eddie," Steve spits out. "Not Al's kid. Stop being weird."

But it's hard. The boy looks too much like his father, it's hard for Daniel to look at him and not see some of Al there.

He wonders if this is punishment for all the bad shit he's done through the years. He wonders if this is going to be his life now, if that's how he's going to spend the rest of his days; seeing his son having everything Daniel never could and being haunted by the living memory of the man he once loved.

When Steve announces he's gonna move in with Eddie, Daniel cuts him off the family money and sells their house in Hawkins.

It's been so many years since Eddie's last seen his dad. But one day Eddie gets back home and the man is right there in their living room with Wayne.

It's not pretty. Especially because Steve's with Eddie, and they had been holding hands and whispering to each other when they arrived and Al clocks them immediately.

"Guess you took after me more than you think, boy," Al laughs bitterly. "Fucking a Harrington, the irony. Is he as good a his daddy was?"

There's a lot of yelling involved. Steve has to hold Eddie back because he completely loses it and tries to beat the shit out of that asshole. Meanwhile, Al just stands back and sneers at them.

It's Wayne who puts a stop to the chaos. He steps in and sends Eddie and Steve away before Al can make things worse and promises the man won't be there when they come back later.

"You protect him too much, Wayne," Al mocks. "You should let him fight his own battles. He's too soft."

Wayne's only response is a punch to Al's mouth that sends him staggering back. Then another, and a third and a fourth.

"I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but now I see I was just being naïve," Wayne says through gritted teeth. He grabs Al by the shirt and brings him up until they're face to face. "You're gonna get the fuck out of here, and you're not coming back. If I hear that you got close to those boys, and I mean either one of them, I'm gonna kill you. Do you understand?"

"Fine, keep your piece of Harrington ass, I don't care. I'll see if Danny's still around."
