Dear John,

There is a reason people still speak about you with so much admiration all these years later. Not just because you were President, but because of the person you seemed to be beyond the title. Intelligent, charismatic, ambitious, witty, resilient and endlessly inspiring to so many people around the world.

People remember your speeches and your vision, but I think they also remember the humanity behind them. You were a devoted brother who shared such a close bond with your family, a loving father whose photographs with Caroline and John-John have become part of history itself, and a man who carried enormous pressure with grace and determination. That is part of why so many people still feel connected to you today, you felt real to them, not distant.

You made people believe in the future. You made people believe they could contribute something meaningful, that progress was possible and that leadership could inspire rather than divide. Even now, decades later, your words still resonate because the optimism behind them still feels genuine.

I truly think that is why you continue to be loved by so many people to this day. You represented hope, ambition, youth and possibility in a way that very few public figures ever have. History remembers presidents, but it does not often remember them with this much affection generations later.

You are still admired, still discussed, still celebrated and still deeply missed by people who never even had the chance to see you in life. That means everything.
