Do you have any clips/recordings of Jack speaking that aren’t during an official speech, or pre-politics? I realized I’ve only heard him talk in those capacities, and I’m so curious to know how close it is to his normal voice, because it’s quite… distinctive haha
I do! I'll link a few
The first known recording of him ever is from a public speaking class he did in 1937 at Harvard, when he was about 20: recording, article
One of my favorite recordings of him is a recording of Jack talking with friends at dinner (being semi-interviewed, but in a casual setting)
In the White House he had recording systems set up because he planned to use them as notes when he eventually wrote his memoir (which of course, he never got to write) but as a result there are many candid recordings of him (mostly phone calls):
my personal favorite
jack calling president truman
talking about vietnam ft. john jr (at the 2:30 mark)
talking with lem billings
