anyway, so I sat down with the intention of writing, but not forcing it to be the amazing wonderful perfect final draft version I usually try to create in one go.

1200 words in about thirty minutes. an absolute new record for me.

I know it’s hard to brush aside thoughts of perfectionism and obsessive reasoning and try to just write without making sure every word, thought, dialogue bit, gesture, setting, etc. is perfect. but damn, imagine if i could work towards the point where i write a ton each day and then i just go back, see what needs to be fixed, and go from there, it would be great, and would cut hours off of time that i spend dreading writing or mucking through it word by word.

it’s recalibrating my brain. i’m relearning what it is to just write out the basic groundwork for a story, making notes for what i want to see, so i can go in later and absolutely devastate with gorgeous settings and awesome characters and wonderful plotlines and captivating dialogues.

it’s awesome to realize that a mindset change like this can make a difference in how i write, and how more at ease I feel with my writing.

anyway, that being said, i’m off to write again. hopefully another 3000-4000 words tonight :)!

And I’m cheating and starting my NaNo wip now (sue me) and I have written three sentences. I think they’re pretty great.

Several weeks ago, @bebewrites​ asked for a post on magic in KE. While magic doesn’t play a huge role in the plot, here are some irrelevant basic details ;)

Who has magic & How does it work?

People are either born with magic, or not. For those (few) who have it, it manifests around early childhood.

Magic is rare: about one in ten thousand people are born with it

Magic is (seemingly) random: no one knows why some people are born with magic and some aren’t. Well I know, but. Folks assume genetics, ancestry, birth time, geography etc might play a role, but no theories have panned out, so everyone assumes magic is random. Suckers

Those who have it must train it—as with all skills, the more they practice, the stronger they get. Some may have more magic reserves—same way as some people have a faster metabolism or better liver function—which might give them a slight advantage over others with similar training, but generally, it’s training that differentiates magic users. Those with more training achieve more spectacular feats of magic.

So I used to have a writeblr about half a year ago but I bailed on it, but this time I’m making a proper writeblr intro and all.

Ever since I was 13 I’ve written give or take 3 sentences- and they were all strokes of pure genius so it’s finally time to capitalize on that I mostly write drabbles of fanfic here and there with no actual structure but I do have one darling original WIP called Divineheart, which I’ll tag as #dh and #divineheart

I’ll make Divineheart its own post but for now here’s a really short summary!

Divineheart

Divineheart is my current (and only) WIP

Ever since the Sky God was killed hundreds of years ago the skies have been in chaos. With blizzards, tornadoes, storms and any sort of weather constantly ravaging the land without warning, the people were forced to live in Sky Domes, powered with the last remaining remnants of Sky Magic. 

In order to restore balance, Empress Joonie must find the reincarnation of the Sky God and rip out the ancient magic that resides in their heart. Destroying the line of reincarnation, and granting her total control of the skies.

After hearing legends and stories of previous divinehearts, Jack never expected he would be one of them. But after almost getting stabbed several different times, once even by his best friend, he realizes, maybe it’s finally time to face the music, fulfill his destiny and save the world. 

Of course he would if it didn’t require so much dying.  Now on the run, Jack seeks to find a cure for his divineheart, and maybe actually save the world in the process.
