The thing with venom is that if it had been critically well received I feel like it would not have been nearly as charming.

The pure chaos and weird tone and haphazard story beats of the first movie just fit venom as a character and like critics don't seem to get that this isn't the fucking avengers and this character did not have to be Tony Stark to be compelling and yes sometimes you just wanna see a guy dunk himself in a lobster tank at a fancy restaurant.

There are plenty of us sloppy cunts that could relate to Eddie Brock human disaster and his feral slightly evil but mostly just fun loving parasite.

Venom was like sloppy drunk tequila friend representation and a 30 percent rotten tomatoes score felt like it couldn't really be any other way.

Like if venom was rated over 50 percent, it just would not be as good, paradoxically.
