most people probably would be a little wary about a random note showing up on their door, but most people don’t lead the sort of life he does. you learn to expect the unexpected, do your best to recognize patterns and behaviors, adapt as needed. and when one of your best friends, not to mention your own daughter, come and go through space and time as they please, you take the bits and pieces they’re able to give you while you’re at home, stationary and (relatively) safe. it’s a nice reminder— he’s venture to say it’s sweet, even— to know that he and amy haven’t been forgotten in the midst of all that.

well, he muses as he reaches out to gingerly remove the folded paper from their tardis-blue front door, so long as this isn’t some call for help or self-destructing note. then that is distinctively less… sweet. but when the paper doesn’t beep or vibrate or start smoking when he opens it up, rory figures it’s safe. or, well, safe enough. this could still be some sort of trap, or a threat, or a call for help.

eyes scan over the words, and apprehension is softened into a smile. it’s just as he initially thought— a reminder that they are missed, and on his daughter’s mind, in the form of a letter. while it’s brief, more a list of what she's been up to than anything, it’s a bright spot in his day all the same. it’s reassuring to know she’s okay, safe for now, and taking the time to share what she’s been up to. what a brave, intelligent girl they ended up with.
