Correct me if I'm wrong but I see a similarity in the way Eren and Thorfinn reciprocate their significant other's love. Both do not outrightly express it, nor do they pay much heed during the storyline (due of their attention being taken up by everything else in their lives). Still, when something befalls their loved one, they immediately halt everything else and prioritize them first. (Spoiler: for example, when Mikasa was being called a titan and accomplice of Eren and he absolutely lost it; Thorfinn finding out gudrid was still trapped in the jomsviking's territory)

Also, when faced with imminent death(ly situation), both characters picture their loved one to recall some strength or a last wish to keep them going and reassured (example: Eren before Mikasa beheads him opens his eyes just to see her T-T and Thorfinn picturing pregnant gudrid and little Karli before his fight)
