I love the phase of admiring someone from a distance. The stage when you like someone so much, and they are absolutely oblivious to the fact. It’s so nice to not actually know them. To use them in your imagination and create all these realistic moments. To picture what they look like when they wake up in the morning, when they're yawning. You think about the sweet messages they’ll send you. Coffee dates you’ll go on. How they run their fingers through your hair, while watching movies on the couch. The stage where everything that happens between you two is completely fictional and imaginative, is by far the best part. The part where you meet them and you actually get to know them, is the worst part. You’re forced to realize that they’re not at all like the person you hope’d they’d be. It’s so easy to romanticize people from a distance, but truth is that most people are plain and ordinary. Not at all unique, but cookie cutter personalities and cookie cutter relationships. That’s why the crush stage is better, thinking about them from afar is always better than actually being with them. They get to be exactly who you want them to be and say exactly what you want them to say. Accepting this by far is the saddest part.
