the way she needed to be looked at

like the whole world could crumble

and he wouldn’t blink.

This is what a lot of the fics that I read have in common ( along with adorable stydia moments), is stiles and Lydia studying together.

I really like them studying together as it shows just how close they have got and continued to get up until senior year when Lydia admitted that she loves him.

Oh, I remember. That note comes to mind whenever I see the words “for Lydia” – in any context.

But that’s a good question. Stiles is a beautifully complex character, rightfully remembered for his sarcasm, wit, and ability to figure things out (maybe even his anxiety and impulsive tendencies too). I’m not sure why his romantic side gets overlooked since there are an equal number of standout moments which prove it’s no less a part of him, no less influential.

One of the earliest examples is his support of Scallison. He goes out of his way to help them – not just because he is an amazing friend but also because he believes in love. Stiles is also the one to realize that Allison anchors Scott because of their feelings for each other. That wasn’t just about him being observant. Someone who doesn’t understand the depth of those feelings wouldn’t have made that connection.

There’s also this part of his conversation with Lydia in 2x03: Sometimes there's other things you wouldn't think would be a good combination...end up turning out to be, like a perfect combination. You know? Like two people together – who nobody ever thought would be together...ever.The best thing about those words is how naturally they come up. Stiles isn’t trying to impress Lydia with a prepared speech. He isn’t feeding her a line. He is putting himself out there, speaking directly from his heart. In fact, whenever he speaks to or interacts with Lydia, there is always something very genuine coming across. Love.

Something like the framed tree drawing deserves equal attention. Stiles is literally going through hell in 3b – and yet, doing something thoughtful for Lydia is a priority for him. I have to believe that gift is a lot deeper than it might seem at first glance. It’s not just a way to preserve a piece of Lydia’s art. It’s a reminder – something tangible he hopes will encourage Lydia to rely on her instincts. Same as she did when she kissed him, on the day they discovered the link between that drawing and the Nemeton. Same as she did in 3x15, when he told her to scream and it helped focus her abilities so they could find Kira.

Not only in his clearly well thought out gifts, but in the way he acts around her - like putting her first (5x05 - arm around her), protecting her (4x09 - "TURN IT OFF"), standing up for her (4x12 - "Not without Lydia."), comforting her (4x06 - The hug.)
