Winter Clothing/Coat Drive OCTOBER 14 - NOVEMBER 15
During this time all faculty/staff and students are encouraged to donate gently use, ideally new items for children of all ages and sizes.
These items will them be donated to Children whose parents have experienced incarceration: those who are in prison, newly released prisoners, and those in rehabilitation.
There will be donation boxes in the Chaplain's Office Lounge, the Lower Auditorium in Wingate Hall and also the Rotunda in Wingate Hall.
Mortar Board offers a Sophomore Mentoring Program
Check out this exciting new mentoring program, just for you. Mortar Board, the national honor society, recognizes top college seniors for excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership and service. Current Mortar Board members are piloting a peer mentoring program for interested sophomores, starting in October. Mentor pairs will meet twice a month in the fall and spring semesters to discuss interests, goals, and academic and career direction. Sophomores will benefit from the wisdom and guidance of one who “has been there,” and will have the opportunity to build a network with interested and like-minded individuals.
Space is limited to 20 participants so sign up soon! Applications are due by Friday, October 11, 2013. Sign up with your interest here.

Welcome to your sophomore year, when big decisions must be made while you explore and discover more about yourself. Don’t panic! We’ve got the resources in place to help you. To make it simple, follow our checklist of action items for the year.

Make sure you get the latest announcements:
Check your class tumblr regularly for information, programs, and more! www.wfuclassof2016.tumblr.com. Sophomore events and programs will be offered through My Journey. You won’t want to miss them!
Update “career interests” in your DeaconSource profile by September 30. Be informed about related opportunities.
Read your email – Cash in on the possibilities available to you.
Update your resume, to include first year activities and summer experiences
Be curious. Be brave. Consider going to a lecture that your friends aren’t going to or a new type of event you’ve never tried before.
Make the time to think about what you are experiencing inside and outside of the classroom and how it is impacting you.
Develop a personalized plan to meet your career goals. Visit the OPCD to develop a road map for the next three years.
Take your career interests for a test drive. Apply for internships, jobs, or volunteer opportunities. Try job shadowing, informational interviews, and signing up for Career Treks.
Take Career Courses CNS 120 and 220. Get credit for learning how to make those big career decisions.
Control your time and avoid burnout: If necessary, say no to adding another student organization or leadership position to your already full schedule.
