Seeing people try to sell Fraction!Bruce saying a few lukewarm words to Damian as good parenting is saying a lot about fatherhood.
It's also telling how a lot of them leave out that Bruce didn't just yell, he destroyed that punching bag. Wonder why that gets left out.
"Damian is Bruce's spitting image!"
"Damian looks exactly like Talia!"
Or! Or! He looks like a mix of his parents because that is what children are. I know, revolutionary concept.
@certifiedgirlrotter
That's exactly my problem with it. A few months ago we had that whole Knightfight thing and honestly a lot of the fandom posts kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
"Jason looks way more than Bruce than his actual biological son!"
"Damian looks like Dick's bio son! Not like Bruce's!"
...okay...this feels very dismissive of Damian's actual parentage? Or like "looks like Bruce equals better character/closer relationship to Bruce"
A lot of it felt simply weird? Idk.
Also why do people keep shitting on Damian and his importance to Bruce when even in 2026 the main Batman writer is very comfortable shitting on Damian, the relationship between Bruce and Talia and the father-son-relationship of Bruce and Damian?
What are people feeling so insecure about???

I know Joker said someone is out to kill Bruce a few issues ago, but I doubt he meant the dude who hired Ojo to kill Bruce because honestly he was lame and as long as Ojo doesn't have that much more to her than her design and ability (which...she got one-shotted by Damian and faied again last issue) I don't care that much about her either.
What if Verity is secretly another assassin hired to kill Bruce lol. Would explain why she only randomly shows up now. And her skills in avoiding the sensors.

Don't care if this sounds petty, but besides everything else very wrong with that whole page...what the hell is up with the clothes?
Obviously referencing Bruce and Talia's wedding night from Son of the Demon in this context is pretty much evil. That pink outfit is in fact based on an outfit classic Talia wore, but it did not look like that. And since it implies this is the first time Bruce met Ra's and Talia together she should be wearing her iconic white dress. Talia's green Rebirth outfit included pants. Also it was her Rebirth outfit, so when Damian was 13, why is it used in a panel that is about before Damian got introduced to Bruce? When Damian got introduced to Bruce he wore a black and white outfit, not a traditionally chinese (?) shirt. And the part with Tim and Damian is also wrong, these are their Rebirth costumes, when they had long started accepting each other O_o
This is a crazy amount of mistakes on one page.
Okay, this is worse than I thought? How old is she? 12? I don't see how she can meaningfully take Alfred's place when she is younger than Bruce and maybe even Dick?
You could argue she is more for Damian, but how? Damian doesn't need a big sister, he has two already - Stephanie even criminally underused.
From the looks of it, this is just a cheap way to add more blond blue-eyed eye candy under the pretense of "oh, but she has a super important job to do".
The best we can hope for is that she is a mole/a traitor which will give her an interesting function.
As I said before, that would have been a great chance to add some body and age diversity for women in Batman comics. But I guess DC is scared to run out of skinny white women with blond hair and blue eyes.
I have already voiced why I'm sceptical about this character's concept in other posts (the fact that she simply cannot fill the narrative role Alfred had, that you can't trust male comic writers not to make her another pointless love interest, how Bruce needing to take care of himself and his family for the first time in his 40s was actually nice and showed growth/much needed maturity, the fact that the idea of an extremely young looking woman being made to look after Bruce and Damian when Alfred being a male and being the caretaker was kind of special...like at least give us an older woman for a change? Could go on, but you get the point) but also yeah, she might not even be who is says she is I guess?
Like is she also an (ex)-agent like Alfred considering that she avoided all the security? Society of the Midnight Key sounds suspicious. Plus if I went through all the trouble to become a highly trained agent I would not throw that all away to serve as a butler just because my great-uncle out of all people wants me to (plus it's been ages since Alfred's death...why is she only showing up now?). With Alfred he at least inherited the position from his own father.
And even if she is his great-niece, how much time can she have spent with Alfred? Alfred didn't even have much of a relationship with his daughter Julia because he dedicated his life to taking care of Bruce and later Bruce's children 24/7.
Absolute!Damian Wayne, but he is made after Thalia took Bruceâs DNA, combined it with her own, and made him in a tube (kind of like Kon). She sends him to Gotham after training him and doesnât contact Bruce, expecting Damian to find his father by himself after she gives him some clues and tips for his journey.
Damian finds his father easily, but dislikes his values, morals, and what he stands for, so he resides in a long abandoned, random apartment complex while he plans for where to go next and how.
While waiting, he notices an attack planned and executed by Poison Ivy. After this he studies older files on her and stalks her, deeming her âworthyâ for being a sort-of mentor figure/caretaker after noticing that, like him and the rest of the Al Ghulâs, she is also an eco-terrorist.
While Poison Ivy is put off by his initial behavior and his tendency to stalk her and multiple others, she quickly grows fond of him and agrees to take him in as long as he isnât âtoo childishâ.
Now combine all of that, and give Damian a pet bear, for good measure.
What? Hold on, pause for a second. What?
It starts with you not even thinking about the sentence "Talia took Bruce's DNA" critically.
This whole post wasnât meant to be taken âcriticallyâ, itâs me mapping out an idea for an Absolute AU.
How does that matter? How does that make racism okay? "It wasn't meant to be taken critically"? Yeah, well I am criticizing you. I don't know how old you are, but please put more thoughts into what you write in the future.
Racism is never okay, I just fail to see what part of my post was racist. If you could at least explain properly which part was racist, so I could at least fix my error and apologize for such behavior, that would be much better.
You seriously see nothing wrong with the sentence "Talia took his DNA" and everything else about this post? This is the whole problem. I could probably explain to you everything wrong with this to you for hours. But I don't think you would understand or even want to understand.
I fear that no, I do not see anything wrong with the sentence âThalia took Bruceâs DNAâ (or anything else in this post) because I never mentioned anything about race nor anything that could warrant hate towards any race.
In fact, when stating âThalia took Bruceâs DNAâ, I even referenced another popular character who is a mix of DNA: Kon. Kon is a popular âtest tube babyâ, as he is a mix of DNA between Superman and Lex Luthor, which helped inspire this AU I thought of.
Instead of being vague and hinting at what I did wrong, I would really appreciate (honestly, this isnât sarcasm) if you explained properly what was racist about what I wrote. Because if I did say something racist and inappropriate, I would like to fix it and formally apologize, as I stated before. But as of now, I donât find anything wrong with anything that I wrote.
Thank you for proving my point that explaining things would simply be a waste of my time. Also...you can't even spell her name correctly. She is called Talia. Not Thalia. And I couldn't care less about Kon, I am talking about what you wrote about Damian and Talia plus about your lack of general critical thinking skills.

Batman #11
Hey Bruce, Dr. Zeller has no idea that you're talking about the League of Assassins, so you're just sounding insanely racist.
Everything about that one-sided talk is simply insane once you think about it for a few seconds.
"But what was Bruce supposed to tell Annika Zeller?"
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He doesn't owe her any explanation. Especially not one that throws Damian and Talia under the bus. Zeller will never be as important as Damian and Talia.
ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE DID NOT FUCKING ASK
she was lit minding her own business, bruce was the one who brought up 'complicated relationships', also complicated relationships means that yes there was some bad but also good, THAT PANEL DID NOT FUCKING SHOW ANY GOOD JUST..KEEP ON STACKING SHIT ABOUT TALIA..
as a wise man once said : he would not fucking say that
Most of my thoughts while reading this run are just "who asked for this?". Bruce asking Tim to drive over Damian was not needed, destroying a punching bag in Damian's face was not needed, Bruce throwing both his son and an iconic love interest under the bus for this person was not needed. And what is this all for? It's not interesting, it's not compelling, everyone comes out of it looking bad. Just stop.
They call him Matt Fraction because he only puts in a fraction of the characterization
Bruce Wayne, who can still to this day identify Talia al Ghul by scent alone, WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT
The sheer arrogance of Fraction shitting on Talia to prop up his new white love interest is...something. And sadly unsurprising. It's what DC has done for over two decades at this point. Doesn't make me less angry though.

one more thing about that batman panel. what a stupid justification, annika knows that damian is robin so you tell her that you thought batman could help him grow in ways you couldnât? i donât think iâm fit to raise my son let me just call the bat themed vigilante, heâll for sure know what to do. what?? this is stupid. you created a stupid problem, give it a stupid âsolutionâ and you made bruce looks stupid. wtf
I already ranted about this when Fraction resolved the unneccesary conflict between Bruce and Damian two issues ago, but literally all of this feels utterly pointless. He's not exploring anything that hasn't been done much better by other writers. He clearly does not get or cares about Damian, yet insists on writing him or about him and his mother even though everyone is asking him to stop. He has Bruce revealing very intimate stuff (without even asking Damian first) to a random person all longterm comic readers know is going go end up unimportant and forgotten and it was 1. Not needed 2. It doesn't even makes sense.
If a guy told me what Bruce told Zeller I would say nothing, awkwardly do finger guns at him and then try to get away from him fast.
exactly, shitting on already established character and relationships and for what?
I'm from a very introverted family (even by northern germany standards) so from my view...you simply have no bussiness telling a random person any of the stuff Bruce said. It's extremely rude to the family member you are talking about. The person you are talking to is not important enough compared to your family to justify shitting on your family member. And why would they even care or understand? They don't know who you are talking about.
Bruce should have simply shut his mouth.
