They chose the people they did strictly because they are historically prominent figures — Guthrum and Alfred had their treaty where Guthrum converted and renamed himself. I still think it was insanely stupid to focus on historical figures and moments and not the people any of us actually cared about! Don’t get me wrong. It’s appallingly shallow writing. They went out of their way to make this about marketing for Mirage and reduce Eivor to a blip on the historical map of the Viking era, to later die and be forgotten in Vinland with her letterbox. That’s the sad truth of the last chapter. They put zero thought into her Allies she loved so dearly being a part of her conclusion. She goes to London and doesn’t even mention Stowe and Erke. It’s wild.
