saying "question mark?" and "however comma," out loud are game changers. punctuation on the go. and it's always the funniest thing that anyone around you has ever heard
Anniversary of APOLLO 11 MOON LANDING
On July 20, 1969, 109 hours and 42 minutes after launch, Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin entered the lunar lander ‘Eagle’, made a final check, and the Eagle undocked from the lunar orbiter ‘Columbia’, where the third member of the crew Michael Collins, stayed in orbit around the moon. Partially manually piloted by Armstrong, the Eagle landed 0 degrees, 41 minutes, 15 seconds north moon latitude and 23 degrees, 26 minutes east moon longitude. Armstrong stepped out, and Aldrin followed 20 minutes later: human beings stepped on the moon for the first time. The two men spent 21 hours and 26 minutes on its surface. One of the astounding aspects of the mission was the seeming simplicity of the technology used to get man to the moon. According to Oliver Gassmann, professor of Technology Management, the mobile phone in your pocket has one million times more memory than the Apollo 11’s computer. Same about the procesor: the latest phones typically have more than 100,000 times the processing power of the computer that landed man on the moon 50 years ago.
“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” –Neil Armstrong

of course it is deeply racist for right-wingers and conservatives to say that European football teams are "full of Africans" because they are perpetuating the myth of the Great Replacement and demonising Black Europeans as invaders coming to take the "rightful place" of White Europeans on teams, I would never argue that. Conservatives and right-wingers have been awfully racist towards Black football players, and something More needs to change within FIFA and the various football confederations bc not nearly enough is being done to combat racism against Black players.
But it is also racist to say something like "coloniser teams need African players to win!" Which is a sentiment I have seen regarding France and Belgium in particular. Yes, both teams have many Black players on them, yes this is due to colonisation and the often forced movement of people, plus the historical links between coloniser and colonised countries mean that citizens of the latter are more inclined to move to the former than a different country. If you were gonna move from say, Algeria to a European country, it's a smart move to go to France, where they speak the same language as you do.
That doesn't mean Black players on European teams aren't European! Many of them are the children of immigrants, and have lived their whole lives in the country they're representing. Kylian Mbappé is French. He has spoken about it before, saying (this is a direct quote about representing France internationally)
"It’s because I was born in France, I’m French. I did everything in France, I had French culture, with origins that are Cameroonian and Algerian. But I grew up with French culture. It comes from the heart.”
When you say something like colonising countries need African players to win matches, you are firstly perpetuating the idea that Black people cannot be European. This is ridiculously false.
Secondly, you are perpetuating the idea that Black bodies are somehow built for labour and athleticism in a way that white bodies aren't. This is a racist idea that comes from slavery, when Black people were enslaved and dehumanised, with white enslavers saying that they were uniquely suited to hard labour, bc Black people are stronger than white people and don't feel pain etc etc. The idea of European teams somehow "importing" African players for their teams is racist!
The Black players on European teams are European. They are immensely talented players, that have put in just as much, if not more work, than their White teammates. Many Black players already face horrific racism from fans, especially when teams lose, and we do not need to be racist in a "liberal" way!
anyways. The World Cup is over now, (lowkey thank god bc idgaf about soccer and it's been Everywhere), but it's something to keep in mind bc a lot of people will have been introduced to football/soccer from the Cup and will start following teams.
And I spend every fucking second of nowhere looking for her. And where is she? Why is she not here with me?
I love how....familiar the Loustat car scene is. The way you just need to unload all the fucked up humiliating shit you got going on that you been trying to hide from the world and there is exactly ONE person who will understand and not judge you and just accept what you're saying and the RELIEF you feel once it's out, even if you got a complicated fucking history that you haven't worked out yet and even if they're still fucking pissed at you cause you've been an asshole lately. That kind of intimacy is so fucking real. It's not sexy. It's not hot. It's not full of yearning. It's just....knowing someone fully and accepting them and being able to say anything. That is Loustat this season.
country/rap as a fusion genre is the coolest fucking shit btw I cannot even begin to stress how hard it fucks
Any recommendations?
So unfortunately Ganstagrass is the one rap/bluegrass/countey fusion band I've found, but they fuck so hard but I haven't looked super hard yet, meant to take some time to do that today actually so I'll update the post when I do.
But since you asked for recs I have to get my usual recs out since I want everyone to listen to this stuff, so BRELAND, Tanner Adell, Blanco Brown, Reyna Roberts, and Willie Jones are all black country artists that blend a lot of rap and hiphop influence into their music which creates a really great vibe(especially since the white country artists doing this are just not anywhere near as good at it someone please stop Morgan Wallen every single one of his songs sounds exactly the same ahhhhh).
I have to plug Brittney Spencer, Shaboozey, and Tiera Kennedy too but those two do much more pure country, country/rock, and country/pop, and ofc I'd be remiss not to mention Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album which is just a celebration of country and adjacent generes and black music and fusion stuff it's crazy just listen to the whole thing.
I also reccomend the Pony Up remix of Texas Hold 'Em but I hit the link limit.
As always, if anyone else has any recs, feel free to drop 'em here, I am ALWAYS looking for more country to listen to and I would love to have some more country/rap stuff like genuinely so bad pls.

WHAT A GOD
Found a new artist, I love being alive.
Oh she knows how to sing a fucking ballad <3 I'm just keeping this post going forever. If you find new cool country artists you're legally obligated to tell me because despite my best efforts I live under a rock.
It's probably bcs my grandpa just died but this song just hit me like a truck and I can't stop crying
Also this is the closest to a nationalistic song by a modern country artist I like bcs it references 9/11 but only in regards to the firefighters who deserve acclaim for what they did that day. Nothing but respect for firefighters.

You had a daughter. I had a daughter.
Advice From a Librarian to Combat the U.S. Literacy Crisis #1:
If you don't read books: Read a book. Read any book. Read a book you loved when you were a kid. Read a book that interests you now. Read an entire collection of poetry or essays and think about why the author or editor arranged those works in that order. Read an erotic novel. Read nonfiction. Read graphic novels or manga. Read a kids' chapter book or a YA novel. Read a book digitally. Read a book on paper. Read an audiobook and really focus on it - if you notice yourself spacing out, scroll back to the last words you remember and try listening again. Read any book. And then when you finish it, celebrate for a minute (get those endorphins going!) and then read another one.
If you read books: Try reading a book that intimidates you. Maybe it's thick. Maybe it uses archaic language. Maybe it's a book that was translated from a language you don't speak into a language you do speak. Maybe it's a genre you don't normally read. Maybe it's the same kind of book as always, but you put your phone away and really focus on reading for 20 to 30 minutes at a time. (I know I've been struggling with this.) What scares you about reading? What challenges have you been avoiding? Try getting out of your comfort zone just a tiny bit, celebrate for a minute, and then try again.

HASHTAG NEVER KILL YOURSELDF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lestat is a character who instead of a brain has a porcelain powdered wig baroque figure that you have to reason with and that makes him commit atrocities. Other vampires try to peer into his mind to obtain information about him and it’s just this thing:
