this is incredibly important

it’s hard to recognize youre hurting yourself. it’s hard to break out of that. im just tired of the prominent anti-recovery rhetoric on tumblr dot com and a lot of others are too.

And for anyone who missed it the first time reading, like I did: inherently is an important word there. There is such thing as healthy coping mechanisms. They exist. But there’s also such thing as unhealthy coping mechanisms, and you need to figure out which one is which if you want to better yourself.

Y’all seemed to like my last story, so I got another! So, I know a lot of women that work retail and the thing I hear the most is that guys are creepy and they hit on you because they know you have to be nice to them or risk losing their job. As a straight man, and a manager, that doesn’t sit well with me, so I promised all of my female coworkers that if someone starts getting a little too pushy, let me know and I’ll take care of it. Most people think that means I’ll just kick them out. Not me. So, we had this one cashier (let’s call her Joy), and she was blessed in the gluteus-maximus region. Fun, yet important fact, I am as well. Joy pretty much stays to herself, does her job and gets the hell on. She’s about the money. One, not so busy morning, a group of custodial/construction guys come in and sits right in front of the register. When they came through the line, they said a bit of things, nothing too inappropriate but enough to make me keep an eye on them. I’m moving between the FOH and the BOH to make sure everything is running smoothly. While I’m in the back, Joy walks in and her face is a bit flustered, which never happens. I ask her was it those guys. And she gave me the look. So, she goes back out to the front to take care of the lobby and I walk out to the line. A guy approaches her to ask for her number, and I walked up to them and proceeds to tell him my number. He looks at me confused and begins to back off. Another made a comment about her derrière to his friends so I say loudly, “you like what you see?” I proceed to walk to their table and say, “how are you doing? Can I get you anything, boys?” in an exaggerated, gay tone. They all fall silent. I pick the one who made a comment on her buttocks and say to him. “Ooh you cute, you single?” Their faces ranged from shock to mortified. I went back to my normal tone, “You see how uncomfortable you all feel. That’s how my employee feels. Say something else to her and I will have all of you removed from this restaurant.” They proceeded to take their food to go. They were talking mad shit on their way out, but better me than her. To all guys. Defend the women that are in your workspace. They deal with a lot more shit than we know so do the right thing and help defend them from the pervs.
