INVESTING WISELY. LESSONS REVIEW IN 300 WORDS(25TH EDITION, OCTOBER 4TH 2020). 1ST LESSON: Eccl. 11:1-6 2ND LESSON: Gal 6:5-10 The author of Ecclesiastes is ascribed to Solomon, the wise teacher The teachers advised on the practice of multiple investments and that one should not wait until everything needed for business is perfectly in place before starting a business, of course there is always a level of risk. Force majeure such as natural disaster, government policies, accidents and so on may also attack a business, so having another business will ease the loss. According to the teacher, we are also to take note of the fixed and variables, the importance of prompt actions as well as the consequences of inactions, and identify those efforts that is solely in the hands of man to take with that which is in God’s hands to do. It is paramount not to relax because of the work we have done in the past, keep on investing in the morning and at evening, at youthful age and above youthful age. The first lesson shows that God is interested in the success of our investments, including our day to day needs. The key statement that connects the second lesson to the first is the statement that says “a man reaps what he sows” In the same vein, the second lesson applied the principle of investing wisely into our lives as Christians, the principle of planting and harvesting “If you live to satisfy your sinful self, the harvest you will get from that will be eternal death, but if you live to please the Spirit, your harvest will be reaped in the age to come. Do not wait for a perfect earthly condition before you choose to do good with your life. (24TH EDITION SEPTEMBER 27TH 2020) 1ST LESSON: Lev 26:10-15 2ND LESSON: Acts 5:1-11 TEMPERING WITH GOD’S PRESENCE After the Law was given to the Israelites, God spelt out the reward for obedience as well as the punishment for disobedience God assures them of a bountiful harvest and most importantly His dwelling Presence. He promised to ‘walk’ with them, a Hebrew term that denotes a deep relationship between God and men. Unfortunately, the Israelites, throughout history could not steadily keep God’s presence owing to their disobedience and rebellion Thus they suffered the punishment for disobedience even up till the birth and ministry of Christ In the New Testament time, the church not only became God’s chosen people in place of the Jewish nation but also became the carrier of the new Covenant by the obedience to the Holy Spirit The Early Church was known for love, unity and abundance sharing; no one was poor among them because they shared everything they own, even to the extent of selling their properties to meet the needs of others. At the close of the preceding chapter, Joseph was the first man that sold a field, which indicated a bigger property and huge capital. He gave all the money from the sold field to the Apostle for the church’s use. GLOOM FOR GLORY! The children of Israel were the apple of God's own eyes. They were His beloved. In love and faithfulness, the Almighty honoured His  promises to their fathers from generation to generation. Special favours of God had always been showered upon them; yet, they remained very unstable in their relationship with Him. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? (Jeremiah 8:22) In our text, God shows His displeasure over their stiff-neck attitude and sinful disposition. He said, ”l will surely consume them... there shall  be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them”  (Jeremiah 8:13). The Almighty so much afflicted them that their health, which they had taken for granted, began to decline. They had gloom for their glory. They lamented that they "looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble" (verse 15).  According to them, despite the manifestation of God's healing power and great provisions, they did not see their signs; ”The harvest is  past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved” (verse 20). As His people today, the Almighty has made provisions for our good health and other good things of life. But to enjoy these benefits on a continual basis, we must ensure we are constantly in the centre of His will. Some believers are not enjoying these privileges, partly because of disobedience. To enjoy God's blessings, we must humbly return to Him, amend our ways and accept His offer of salvation through faith in Christ's sacrifice and resurrection. The floodgates of heaven were opened and rain for the first time fell on earth for forty days and nights. Seasons became insignificant as the water covered the earth for about a year. Noah and his family survived but all living creatures that were not aboard were destroyed. Although, God instructed Noah and his family to come out of the ark and also release the animals, but did not request of him a sacrifice Noah built an altar and offer sacrifice to God By this, he put God first and showed gratitude to God; a reflection of the blameless man he was in the sinful world. The flood had a curse to the earth, because it obstructed the blessing of fruitfulness of the earth; as the earth could neither germinate seed nor bear fruit as long as the water remained. But God promised not to curse the ground again or destroy all living creatures. He also restored times and season for earth’s productivity. The second lesson emphasized the importance of well-doing in life because man would always reap what he sows. We would recall that the people at the time of Noah reaped destruction because they sowed of the flesh. Sowing unto the Spirit is the way that leads to eternal life, but sowing unto the flesh will lead unto eternal destruction. If we would surely reap our deeds in the age to come, let this sure hope of the believers motivate you to be persistent in well-doing. Do well and escape the final destruction. CHILDREN! FOLLOW THE WAY. The Bible teaches that children have mandatory responsibilities to their parents. As a matter of fact, Children owe their parents certain important duties that include the obligation to respect honour and obey them. Children are the heritage of the Lord and God has a special interest in their well-being. Meanwhile God is a disciplinarian as revealed in Revelation 3:19 “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” My son, hear the instruction of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother: Proverbs 1:8 God has decided to commit the discipline of children to their parents as caretakers for Him; therefore, children must cooperate with their parents to make easy for their own benefit. Obedience in this respect attracts long life and prosperity. If you invested so much in your children, but have retired and they are gainfully employed, yet they ignore you, will you be happy with them? Some fathers have placed curses on their children for neglecting them. A righteous child will not neglect his parents at any time. He will make sure that those of them that are not saved are led to Jesus. After all, that is the greatest gift he can give them. Besides that, he will ensure that they have a roof over their heads and their needs are met in the area of feeding, clothing, healthcare, etc.  God has joined children to their parents as partners in progress. For two people to work in agreement, they must see and mind the same thing. They must be focused on the same goal. God’s focus is that children have parents that will be godly examples to them, while making efforts to bring them up in the way of the Lord. God wants parents that will introduce their children to Him at very tender ages, so that they may learn to obey God and become familiar with His commandments, worship and fellowship. ON SPIRITUAL TRANCE. Trances became the talk of the Christian world, hundreds would come to Mother Etter’s meetings in hopes of being able to personally experience this sought out experience from God. At one meeting, 15 doctors came from different cities to investigate the trances, one of them tried so very hard to diagnose the trances to a mental illness, He did not want to admit the power of God. The doctor went to other rooms of the meeting place to pray for himself, thinking maybe it could be the power of God, he wanted to find out for himself. He was found in a room in a full trance, when he came out, he testified of seeing the horrors of hell and gave his life to the Lord! SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE. In the marriage ceremony, after the vows are said, the minister solemnly and reverently remarks, “What God hath joined together let no man put asunder.” Is not God the third part in a marriage? Should He not be taken into account in the marriage, and in the home that emerges from that marriage? If God joins the couple together at the outset, should not His presence be recognized in the home continually? Many homes are on the rocks today because God has been left out of the domestic picture. Many couples think that if they have a better home, get a better job, or live in a different neighborhood, their domestic life will be happier. No! The secret of domestic happiness is to let God, the party of the third part in the marriage contract, have His rightful place in the home. MAKE THE RIGHT PLANS. The Bible tells us that faith has action with it. A lot of times people say they believe something, but with their actions, they’re doing just the opposite. For example, some people make plans to get the flu. They believe it and speak it. They say, “Every year I get the flu.” Or, “It’s going to be bad this year.” They expect it, and a few months later, they’ve got it. Their faith worked! May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.(Psalm 20:4, NIV) Instead of making plans for the worst, why don’t you make plans for the best? Why don’t you make plans for the Word of God to come to pass in your life? The scripture says, “No weapon formed against me is going to prosper...a thousand may fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand; but it will not come near my dwelling!” Today, make plans according to the Word of God. As you make right plans, you’ll see right things come to pass in your life. You’ll rise up in victory and enjoy the blessings God has in store for you! Father, search my heart.
