There are many 5 point Calvinists, ppl who have crowned themselves “exegetical authorities”, who have lost there sight on the ultimate prize, who’s hearts have hardened and who’s Christianity has become less about a relationship with Christ and more about proving to others, in the body of Christ, about how wrong they are. Not attacking the passion as I agree with some of it but extremely skeptical of the approach. Here’s the thing it is not impossible to teach proper bible study & note unbiblical sentiments with grace and love. I’m in seminary school. I’ve learned exegesis & hermeneutics in my classes so here is my two cents with love. YOU as member of the body of Christ should not feel crappy about the way you study the bible. However I am here to tell you my friend to just pick a book, open it and read it. Do not be intimidated by bibles across social media where every color highlighter is present, every word is circled, where arrows reflecting intricate diagrams are sprawled across each page & where 500 tabs are peeking precariously from deckled or golden pages. What does God want to show YOU; tell YOU; need YOU to do from the time you’re spending in His word. Pray that you and your problems are removed from His word and allow Him to speak to you through scripture without accompaniment. There is nothing wrong with resources for deeper meditation & understanding. There is nothing wrong with devotionals if they are biblically sound, but God’s work; this story filled with instruction, miracles and instances that make us uncomfortable can be read alone. Write down what you feel & think, questions to study and return to later. Ask the Lord in prayer, “What will you have me know!?” “What does this mean!?”. Prayer is always your channel and God’s plain word is your vessel to Jesus.
