On April 4, 1980, 20 year old Yevette “Yvette” Valentin will go missing from the 25th street of Manhattan when she went with a client and never came back. A day later she was found in the borough of Queens. Decades later in March of 2021, Richard Cottingham ie the Time Square Killer or Torso Killer admitted that he murdered a woman from off 25th street, and 2 years later in 2023 the woman he murder was identified as Yvette Valentin via a series of phone calls where he told Peter Vronsky the directions from 25th street, Manhattan to where he put the dead body in Queens. 

Then in June of 2024, Yvette’s case was a week away from being closed, so what changed then?

Apparently the NYPD cold case detectives at the time (who I haven’t identified yet) and the Queens district attorney, Melinda Katz hated and didn’t care about the victim cos she was a sex worker, likely because she was Hispanic based on how they replaced Yvette’s cold case with a woman named Rosalie Reisberg a 26 year old white nurse who was more “respectable” in their eyes rather than Yvette who’s case got tossed and was forgotten about while Rosalie’s case got solved because she white and not a sex worker. As of now Yvette’s case is still not reopened yet despite Richard Cottingham admitting to killing her because of racism and a hatred of sex workers.
