Scripture Of The Week - Extreme Pleasure In God's Presence (11 August 2012)
Scripture Of The Week - Extreme Pleasure In God's Presence
Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Nothing Is Further Than The Truth
You make known to me the path of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence,
    with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
1. God Wants To Give Us Extreme Pleasure In Him
Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
You make known to me the path of life;
    in your presence there is fullness of joy;
    at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
We Are Too Easily Pleased/Satisfied
For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisternsâbroken cisterns that can hold no water.
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
God Wants Us To Seek Pleasure In Him
Pleasure Is The Measure Of Your Treasure
Pleasure Is The Whistler Of Your Heart
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Examine Your Heart What You Really Treasures
He Is Our Greatest Treasure
They feast on the abundance of your house;
    you give them drink from your river of delights.
2. He Is A God Of Extreme Pleasure
remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
    I am God, and there is none like me,
10Â declaring the end from the beginning
    and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, âMy counsel shall stand,
    and I will accomplish all my purpose
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
For the Lord takes delight in his people;
    he crowns the humble with victory.
The Lord your God is with you,
    the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
    in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
    but will rejoice over you with singing
We Are Fearfully And Wonderfully Made
3. God Wants To Give Us A Hunger And Thirst For Him
And Jesus said to them, âI am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, âIf anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38Â He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.
2Â My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
    When can I go and meet with God?
    earnestly I seek you;
    my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of Godâs work from beginning to end.
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
