Just binged watched the 1st season of "Metal Family" (English dub, tho i am rewatching the original Russian dub rn) on Youtube,

iβll forever love the fact that Jpn dub of the Mario Movie, Luigi always calls Mario his βnii-sanβ (big brother) despite being twins, literally the same age.
He doesnβt have to, at the beginning of the 1980s anime film, when Luigi tells him goodnight, he called him by first name and Mario was distracted but i doubt heβd mind anyway. in the same movie Luigi usually called him βanikiβ which is apparently more casual than βnii-sanβ.
While in the 2023 movie he only calls him Nii-san (the way he says it is so cute too, can i get a compilation of that pls-)
like yea Luigi has always looked up and respected Mario as a brother but something abt the language makes it more meaningful, ya know?
itβs the same as when in fanfics they call each other βfratellone / fratellino β (big/little brother in Italian) itβs just so cute π€§
Adding on to this, there's only 3 times where Luigi refers to Mario by his name.
The first time is while Luigi in lost in the Darklands. He calls out "Ni-san? Mario"
The second time is during the scene with Bowser, which is a plot point so they couldn't really change that.
The third time is while Luigi's in the trash, where Mario obviously wouldn't have been able to hear him.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention that in the Japanese and German dubs, Mario never uses the nickname "Lu" for his brother. It's always just "Luigi".

it just makes sense especially in game box art, it's "Mario & Luigi"
so ofc Mario has to be in the viewer's left and Luigi on the right side.
this is one reason why i hc Luigi as left handed (besides that i'm projecting hehe), while Mario is ambidextrous.
The Bros are always next to each other and their empty side would usually be Luigi's left side and Mario's right side. So when they're like holding hands, their dominant hand would be free to do whatever without letting go or switching places.

true story: in highschool at the lunch area, my best friend fought another student for taking the seat i usually took (beside my friend's).
i was fine with eating alone at a different table, but my friend was not having it- so we all ended up in the office. π
the Disciplinarian told us to just arrive early and take turns as it's a first come first serve space. Since then it was like a race every lunch time π
my friend and i grew apart a long time ago and are basically strangers now,,
but i still love that Mario is always ready to throw hands at anybody dares to pick on Luigi.
