Fall 2014 Program Schedule and Changes
Fall 2014 Program Schedule and Changes
Due to recent changes in the college’s budget plans, Emerson College is no longer paying for an on-duty guard in the Ansin building after 11PM. Unfortunately, this decision leaves WECB unable to continue to provide content after this hour. While we are disappointed that we couldn’t come to a compromise that worked for our organization as well as the college’s security needs, we are still…

Job at WECB:
This is my first semester as Events Coordinator at WECB and so far I'm loving it! Being able to have a radio show on WECB, a student run station, is an opportunity most college students don't have; I love the uniqueness of WECB. And the people I've met here are flippin' awesome!

Welcome new and old Emersonians!Â
Have you ever dreamed of having your own radio show? WECB is Emerson's only DIY show where you make the rules (ahem, after following our administrative rules first of course). No radio experience is needed to apply, just your beautiful face and unique ideas.Â
Pick up an application tomorrow at the org fair or at the WECB/WERS basement.Â
Just a reminder that you must reapply even if you had a show last semester for Spring 2014.
Apps are due in WECB basement JAN 24!

CONGRATS!
WECB ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: AMANDA NICHOLS (1999)
YOG:
1999( actually December 1998).Â
What your job/show was
At one point I had three shows- I covered a mid day format show, a live music show and Topical Solution, where my roommate and I would pick a topic the week before and then bring a bunch of music to fit the topic. Some of those were games, like"Dead or Canadian?" or "Funny or not Funny Floating." The live show was a live mix workshop that I co-opted so I could interview people I wanted to hear. Keep in mind that the specialty shows were three hours long then, so most weeks, I was in the studio for 8 hours at least.Â
I was also at any given time the traffic director, promotions director, music director (for a summer) and general manager. Needless to say, I didn't graduate with any sort of honors!
Particular moment/funny anecdote when you worked at WECB
At one org fair one year, another DJ (TomO) was going around interviewing people about their clubs and one girl brought everything to a halt be declaring that Mother Theresa had just died. TomO quickly turned the attention back to me at the booth, but I didn't have time to cue up another song, so right after she said that, I played Iggy Pop's "Lust for life." I felt like the biggest jerk!
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Hmmm. Tough call, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for TV's Frank from Mystery Science Theater 3000. Â
DJ OF THE MONTH: STRANGE SIGNALS [OCTOBER]
Year of graduation: 2015
Major: Journalism
How long has the show been on air?
This is my first semester on the air.
What makes your show special and unique?
My show is special and unique because I go out of my way to play music I know would never see air time ever. I play aggressive, bleak, uncompromising, and weird tunes, and I source a lot of my playlists from my personal collection of cassette tapes and physical records.
Describe your DJing style in three words:
audible transcendental meditation.
Pick two celebrities to be your parents:
Two celebrities? President Lee Pelton and Alexander Graham Bell.Â
HUMP DAY TUNE
SWEET CAROLINE - NEIL DIAMOND
'NUF SAID. DEAL WITH IT. DOUBLE AUDIO AND ALL.Â

Your job and why you love it:Â I get excited to customize things the way I think looks best, which will include a full revamp of the WECB website for next semester (GET PUMPED). Also posting funny animal pictures on WECB's Facebook is fun. Web is fun. I love the webz.Â

The Pale Costa Rican Who Lived in Miami Half Her Life Finally Finds Inclusion in Cold Boston: A Memoir
Meet the Staff: Lydia Liebman [General Manager]
Major: Producing at Emerson, Professional Music at Berklee      Year ofGraduation: 2014 Show: Reeds & Deeds II
Your job and why you love it:
I think being GM is great because I really get to explore all the different facets of running a radio station. If I had to single out one specific thing, I would say I really enjoy the interview and scheduling process regardless of how grueling it can be- being able to hear so many unique ideas is a lot of fun. I also really love that I get to work with so many people that have different expertise and experiences.Â
Last song I listened to:
Calls- Robert Glasper Experiment f/ Jill Scott
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?Â
Tales of a Jewtalian.
