Sometimes I like looking at some of the low reviews of I Saw the TV Glow on Letterboxd. Because it’s so clear these people are cis and have probably never even thought of the transgender experience.

The reviews make sense, this wasn’t a movie made for cis people. And a lot of the lower reviews talk about thinking they’re missing something and they’re right. This isn’t a movie for you.

I honestly don’t know if this is a problem or not, maybe it just depends on who you are? In my case, I Saw the TV Glow validated the transgender experience for me as a man who does not go through much dysphoria. I felt understood seeing the turmoil of the protagonist.

I love the movie but in all honesty I’ll never be able to watch it again…I cried like a bitch lolll
