Iâm currently replaying the Mass Effect trilogy, because I felt the urge to romance Liara again, which has had me thinking about the endings of ME3 since fans still create discourse over them 14 years later. I truly think the ending of the trilogy shouldnât have been multiple choices, it shouldâve been you win by destroying the Reapers or everyone dies and how you win should be impacted by the choices you made in the trilogy. The worse your choices are the more cost there is to winning and the better your choices the better the outcome. EDI and the Geth dying shouldnât be mandatory.
The other endings feel tacked on and too much like bad people winning while Destroy killing EDI and the Geth feels like it was added only to make people feel like the other options were worth choosing. It cheapens a lot of the choices for a pseudo trolley problem ending.
